Yeah, this is called holophonic sound. If you look up that term, you can find a lot of other short clips of its usage. It's really cool, but expensive to do because of the recording method and hasn't seen much use in practical applications. For some reason, I always find it very relaxing to listen to the various clips. Cool! Doesn't surprise me though, since the way I play a lot of games (and the kinds of games I play) is reliant on sound as much and sometimes almost more than the visual. It's very natural for people to hear where things are, and very distracting and/or unnerving when you can't properly identify the positions of things around you by sound alone. That's why I'm always anal about having a decent audio set-up on gaming computers.
