ARIA ~ Canzone per Neo Venezia

To those of you who loves ARIA, here is my (long awaited) AMV dedication. It debuted at A-Kon this past weekend. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the first half of the Masters Contest, so I can’t comment on the crowd reaction I would like to have heard.

I will say, this is a very slow, soothing video which may not be appreciated by viewers unfamiliar with the series. Regardless, I welcome any comments you have and hope you find the show as wonderful as I do.

Hells Yeah! I loves me some Aria!

/The simple editing really helped bring out the atmosphere, which I liked. And the good song choice also attributed to that, fit very nicely. The end scene wasn't... I don't know, soothingly dramatic enough but I liked the entirety of the video.

I'm sure Aria is 4x3 and all DVDs were anamorphs to 640x480, so why do you of all people have wrong AR?
As for the vid itself, I'm not into Aria (watched only 1st ep of 1st season), so couldn't get into it. Still… welcome back!

I don't understand what you mean. Aria: The Animation IS standard 4:3 with normal DVD encoding at 720x480. ALL of the shows I made into AMVs are ripped from DVDs at 720x480. My process has not changed except this time I used an mp4 file compression for distribution.

What I mean is you have wrong aspect ratio in your vid. 688x464 is not 4:3, but it should be. I suggest you read some articles about anamorphic DVDs to understand that on DVDs source of 720x480 shrinks to 640x480 (4:3) or expands to 853x480 (16:9) on-the-fly when you watch it. This stuff is fundamental in terms of DVD-rip.

This is why post-processing is a bitch. I see where I “fubared.” Following the old version 2 guide and using the crop/resize calculator, I selected the wrong presets and used the AR configuration with the smallest % of error. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. I’ll see about updating it with a “proper” version and remember the correct settings for future projects. I have been away too long.
