"Save My Soul"

Post by EkaCoralian » Thu Mar 26, 2009 10:54 pm

*VIDEO HAS BEEN RE-UPLOADED IN HIGHER QUALITY*
Image
Title: Eureka SeveN AMV - "Save My Soul" (HollandxTalho)
Video: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... p?v=167313
Category: Romance
Song: Save My Soul
Artist: Low Level Flight

I would suggest watching this on VLC Media Player (I believe it'll show the original quality.)

This would be my second AMV I've uploaded here, but the first one that actually is downloadable. ^_^ Feel free to comment on it! (And try and ignore the few glitchy clips that have other clips cut in them for a millisecond or so, thats not an error in the download, just my clips.)
This is my AMV Entry for Anime North. =)

Glad you announced this, I would have told you to via QC if you hadn't.

I actually quite liked this video. E7 videos almost exclusively focus on the relationship between Renton and Eureka; I think this is the first one I've seen that has absolutely nothing to do with either of them, and has no shots of either of them. That alone makes it pretty unique and original, so you get points for that.

The pacing is really good. It's probably tempting for a song like this to do more long crossfades and to use generally longer scenes, but you kept up with the tempo really well and the video has really nice visual rhythm. I also like (for the most part) the glows you used to sync in the first half. It reminded me a lot of AceMan's Beyond the Clouds, and despite the fact that I tend to look down on such obvious external sync, it worked really well because you had other things going on in the scenes themselves so the glows felt more complementary than overriding.

Also the scene at 2:52-2:54 was absolutely *perfect*. Great lead up to the climax, very appropriate.

However, I have quite a few things to complain about as well. For one, the quality was a huge downer; even at that (extremely) low resolution, the video looked pretty bad. I would have really liked a higher resolution and some heavier VDub filtering. The stray frames you mentioned were distracting and did tend to kind of jar me as I was watching the video; I feel like it would have been worth it to go back and fix those frames and re-render everything out. Also, be careful about mouth flap. You had quite a few scenes where the characters' mouths were moving but they didn't match up to the lyrics, so I assume you weren't trying for lip sync. Such scenes were distracting.

That aside, this was a very good video. I love E7 so it's nice to see something different. Keep up the good work.

4/5

Thanks for watching it, and the comment! =) I had to convert it to .mp4 twice because the original file (which was very HQ) was larger than 100MB. I watched the one converted for a second time and thought the quality was okay, but I was looking on my VLC Media Player. When I drag and dropped it into Sony Vegas, I was surprised at the difference in quality. I apoligize for that hugely.

I'm glad you liked it! 2:52 - 2:54 was my favorite part to edit. xD ^_^
The next AMV I upload here will hopefully be better quality. If its too large, does anyone have any recommendations to convert it again to?

Find a way to better up your quality and I will love your AMV...320x240?! That resoulution is quite an eye killer!

The Idea with the widescreen version of Eureka Seven really fit though! Great though |:> 4/5

The original video was too big, so I had to convert it again. I don't know what format to save it in again that'll keep the quality watchable. D: (I saved it for the second time in .mp4, but I had to convert it. I might try saving it as an .mp4 file again on Sony Vegas, and see how that turns out.)
Thanks very much, though! =)

I'm guessing you don't really know very much about how to compress well if you're doing it through Sony Vegas, so I would highly recommend looking through this guide.

Well originally I compressed it with "Any Video Converter", and well... it came out with that quality. -_- I just rendered it again on Sony Vegas and it looks much better quality-wise. =) Although it might be slightly slow, so I'll have to fix that.
I've requested deletion of this video, so that I can re-upload it in its higher-quality form. If accepted, I will edit my first post and people can enjoy it to its fullest. ^^
