Seeing as it's going to be the main point of debate, I'll say I'm torn about the dance scenes. On the one hand, I completely understand why they're there, and the parallels between the anime action and the action from the Lord of the Dance definitely emphasize the drama of the piece. On the other hand... it's WEIRD seeing live action mixed in with anime. Much like it would be odd if someone mixed the Spider Man movies and Spider Man cartoon into a video. In other words,
I like them, but it may be an acquired taste.
I actually got to see Lord of the Dance live, and it's freaking sweet. I have to say that this video certainly captures the mood of LotD, much more than I think it captures the moods of the animes. Miyazaki's works tend to feel more "epic" this feels more "compelling". As I've said before, I really wish Miyazaki's films more resembled your AMV interpretations of them. Your videos have that immediacy that I never quite feel in most of Miyazaki's films. (Nausicaa has it, and Mononoke to a lesser extent, but most of the others seem to trade bite for depth.)
Definitely a 5 star performance. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.
I think I do have some more to say, but I'll write up a full opinion at some point soon.
