I'm going to say right off the bat that I don't like this video. Didn't care for it in AWA Pro, nothing's changed since then. It reminds me way too much of Closer, which is a video I never liked to begin with.
Besides that though...I dunno, it's just kinda boring. There didn't even seem to be very much actual editing...all it was was straight cuts and sudden drops to black. With the whole idea of a film reel permeating the entire video, you could have made it much more interesting to watch and given the scenes some vertical movement, maybe a little jitter...the static and color changes were nice, as were the textures...but you could have done so much more.
I also didn't feel like the video was paced very well with the song. When the song picked up, the video didn't...it didn't have very good rhythm, and there was hardly any beat sync to tie everything together.
Also, while I think the concept is creative, the video doesn't do a very good job at conveying it. I think this is due in part to you using so many different animes, but the video just felt really repetitive...it didn't seem to go anywhere. All it was was shots of half-naked chicks.
I dunno, man. I just wasn't feeling this, at all. It didn't feel very innovative or fresh to me, and I feel like you could have done SO MUCH more to make this more immersive and entertaining.

I think it needed more beat sync. And less black screen. It was too slow for my tastes. :O It's kind of like a slower version of Dues Ex, and Dues Ex was pretty slow.
However, I did enjoy it to a certain degree, because it was really creepy to watch and it fit its genre very nicely. I think people would enjoy it,and it's certainily a keeper for me.

honestly, I couldn't make anything of this video.
On my own terms, this is the worst video you ever made.
It was plain boring, the concept got lost on me and the effects were monotonous and somewhat unneccessary (seriously, texture+fractals+vignette+oldmovie all the time? |: ).
When you showed me that storyboard-thingie like ages ago, I didn't think it would turn out like this. As in, THIS static, it's like looking at some dia show, flow's almost nonexistent
I'd say stick to what you do best, simple fun editing with some or no additional effects like in your fmp or your haruhi video. sorry to be so brutally honest, but that's just how I am ;p

I'm mostly going to side with GfN here. Though I'm a little more forgiving score wise. I'll probably edit this later on for a rundown and explain whats up imo.-GfN- wrote:honestly, I couldn't make anything of this video.

Thanks for all the comments so far!
Do you mean 04:20 with Faye lying on the bed? I think I nailed it for me with using this intense moment with the movement of her eyes.
@Crack:
I understand where you´re coming from.
@-GfN-
Didn´t I send you the vid? I guess you could have said it earlier =P
I do think that this is my best work ever and I´m proud of it. I have the project files and the whole clips I need for working. Maybe I´ll revised the vid again one day.

I had the same idea like this video. Than I checked out if there where already some videos with this song and there it was. It gaves me a lot of inspiration on what I want to do.FinalResolve wrote:I think the video falls short of the inspiration( Closer ). It lacks the subtle internal sync that's evident throughout Aluminum's video, almost unnoticeable. It seems like you took the less cuts idea behind this project too literally and it shows from 4:20 and on, the music is very intense and the cuts are just not there. The audience needs a way to release all the tension built in the first 4 minutes and the video just doesn't provide that.
I enjoyed it enough to write this, and I don't usually comment on videos. What you did with the color was a nice way to amplify the atmosphere so good job there.
I don´t know for me his video was the lacking one. *shrugs* I see my video more as a project that went more into the direction his video did. Should I call it "remake of an idea" ?It lacks the subtle internal sync that's evident throughout Aluminum's video

and that´s what I wanted. Away from the stare cage of syncage. I did it my way with a mix of scene changes and inner sync. Yeah I know that it´s not everybody cup of tea.and the cuts are just not there.

Actually I thought about a remix of my own vid with a different song that would go much more into "pop"-editing.I dunno, man. I just wasn't feeling this, at all. Nah. I need that here. I want to see how far my taste comes for others.sorry to be so brutally honest, but that's just how I am ;p

Hm, I actually watched the whole video I didn't expect that to happen when I first noticed what the song was. But I somehow felt as if the whole video was a bit repetetive, the music and the video itself are both a little bit repetitive. I thought there was flow but with that song everything was a little bit to slow so there was no real supense building up because the song never changes pace so does the video.
The effects fitted and keeping the visual impression constant wasn't a bad idea it contributes to the videos atmosphere and resembels the monotony of the song pretty good. The best thing however is that useing the same colorscheme and effects all the time made the blending of the various anime pretty easy and thus it really worked pretty good I guess. I actually think the video is well executed and just not my cup of tea due to the lack of action so I give it 3.5/5

Overall, I would say this is pretty good
I mean, visually it looks fantastic, and I gotta respect the moody, dark scene selection. It would have left more of an impact if I hadn't heard the song before, so it got repetitive, as others have mentioned. I liked the concept, although without reading the description, it wouldn't have come through for me. While watching, I treated each scene like a different experiment, and found myself thinking of what the doctors would record in their journals, like
case#: 170894
test subject: Z5l
code name: elfled
unique properties...
subject history...
observations... etc...
so I think text on the screen would have helped your ideas come through more. The way it is now, it's easy to miss that connection between the scenes, and could be mistaken for nothing more than random creepy scenes from anime... which still works lol, and the editing matches the song... I just think the underpinning meanings should be more engaging, and there's a lot of great ideas going on in here.
