Not bad PaperIsland. The beginning was really cool with the silence. Once the music kicks in, it really packs a punch (no pun intended).

First of all my complaint is that half way through the vid, I started to doze off. But fortunately, I was able to come back into attention towards the end.
0:55 and 1:02 has lip-flap and is often a little uncomfortable for the audience, especially when the character isn't finishing the lyrics.

The content in this video is all about the fighting and the hard techno.

You've got a nice set up in the beginning with Ippo training. Not only does the beginning set the mood, but I also knew what the overall vid was going to be about. Something about most AMVs is that editors fail to get their audience to know the idea of the vid. It's nice to see you were able to overcome this obstacle.

You have a nice character profile going on for Ippo.
1:51 - 2:06 is my favorite part because it gives us the audience to slow down and take a break. Also this little segment shows a little emotion for Ippo.

One note about this vid, is that there doesn't seem to be any real climax. The energy in the vid is very intense, but doesn't feel dynamic. Hence why 1:51 - 2:06 is my favorite part, because the energy is a bit different. In the future, be sure to shape your vids with dynamics. Make everything feel balanced, and make your climaxes clear. This isn't easy to do for an AMV, but it sure helps.

3.5/5 from me. PaperIsland.

i thought the video was okey, fellt kinda simple and loads of the beats could have been synced different.. thought it lacked black fades, and it felt abit to random.. though i havent seen hajime no ippo :(

Cool vid. I love this song. :) I didn't like the beginning that much and in general I think the anime didn't fit to the song that well but you certainly did a great job on the action sync, I enjoyed watching this. Overall, 3.85/5. Keep up the good work.

Pretty good video, the editing was pretty much spot on the whole time. I would have liked to see some more drastic changes in the footage when the song changed sounds. My biggest complaint with this video was that you didn't de-interlace at all and you also used a bad resize filter because I saw jagged lines that you get from resizing with a bad resize filter. Overall I give it a 3/5

Since the technical complaint is the easiest to address, I'll mention that one first,

I used telecide and decimate on my DVD footage before editing (following Ermac and AbsoluteDestiny's guide), so there should be no interlacing left. I personally don't see any. I cropped out 4 pixels of black at the top of my video and then resized using LanczosResize to restore the aspect ratio. I couldn't really tell any difference myself from the resize, although I guess it might have had a slight negative effect. Actually, while making it I tried out some filters to add grain and noise, because I wanted it to have a gritty look. But in the end, I decided to leave the video as is.

Well, the beginning is all about black fades. I kept them limited to the beginning because I wanted to set that sequence apart and I didn't really think the song encouraged them after that point. I'm not sure where else I might have added them, although if you want to reply or send me a PM with what your thought is, feel free. It is simple. So, that's a fair criticism in that some people will feel that it's too limited or that it didn't click with them. But I felt that the song is fairly simple and straight-forward, as is Ippo's character. Thus, I wanted to make a video natural to those elements. I don't know about the random comment; it seems pretty focused to me.

1:51 - 2:06 is my favorite part
1:51-2:06 is my favorite part as well. I also see it as the climax, when Hajime's luck begins to change. Although I admit that there are other points the climax could be confused with. He's mainly dodging and getting hit in the first half, while he's mainly dominating in the second half. So, content wise there is some progression. I was going to have him just dominate for the whole video and take out the under dog element, but it looked boring that way. I decided changing his general attitude twisted the series enough.

Visually, there isn't as much progression. The video pretty much starts off with punching and ends with punching. There's a general pace to a number of sequences that repeats, centered around the main repeating phrase. I could see how you could want more variety in that. That's what led to me adding the sequence of leaf catching. But I pretty much committed to a style when I started the project, so I'm not sure how I could have changed it without changing my initial intention. I didn't want the video to just echo the format or personality of the series. Ippo is in awe of a new opponent --> Ippo trains hard due to his love of boxing and desire to see what he can make of himself --> Ippo fights hard and almost loses --> Ippo wins in the end through perseverance. I wanted to change the formula to, Ippo trains out of a competitive drive --> Ippo goes into a fight with the intention of proving himself better than a difficult opponent --> Ippo encounters some difficulty --> Ippo wins with style.

Anyway, thanks for the comments everyone.
