I'm not fan of the music, but editing is very good and of this fact, I've spent a good moment. I liked the dynamism that you brought to this video.

Maybe not very original for a Death Note amv, but yeah, good job. =)

Oooh, I liked that. The concept was not terribly original but it was still a beautiful genre piece

I liked the way you synced things. I just wish the cuts were even faster for the song intensity sake. You used quite long clips afterall. It's just that they had the shakiness effect instead of intense cutting, which balanced that out somewhat but I would have still prefered a lot more clean cuts.

I couldn't figure the story and I have no idea how's the title related to this any way, but it was deffinitely a good Death Note AMV

Another DN AMV with the same scenes, same kind of music.
But it was well-edited. Good job anyway.

OropherZero wrote:So Crack, you'd rather see a crappy Death Note AMV which totally devalues the purpose of the anime and have no connection with the song for the sake of being 'different'? Because that by definition can be argued as a crap AMV, and to me you seem to be enjoying these crap AMVs which don't connect the audio and visual in any form. So far Sierra Lorna, purge and ScorpionP have done an excellent job with Death Note as an anime in its own right, it's a pity you can't appreciate that.
Add Fuze to the persons you mention."Zetsubou Kira" was also a very good DN amv that gives justice to Death Note.
Anyway, using anime in a way that differs from the original anime plot is way more creative than just follow the anime. And it's more difficult most times. So don't bash these amvs as "crappy".

However, enjoyment doesn't necessarily go with creativity.I liked Sierra's and Scorpion's DN amvs because they have done a great work.Very well edited and nice song selection.Ok,they weren't original,so what?
On the other side,I also liked SF_Phoenix DN amv "The Blank Page Before You" which had some editing mistakes but was original.

To sum up,there's no point arguing about how the editor decides to use the footage he has.And statements like "I hate Death Note amvs" have better be avoided. They only add to disputes...

On a side note,DN has not yet become overused. With only 266 DN amvs on super search, you can't compare it with FMA,Bleach,FFAC,Dragonball etc.

And to get back on topic, the ending with the "S" in the screen was pretty cool Marko. 8-) 8-)

What? No, of course not. I'd rather see a good Death Note AMV that uses music that's not on the verge of being metal and doesn't create the exact same mood as every other Death Note AMV out there. (As a side note, the only DN video I've seen come close to doing this is VegettoEX's Teenagers, and I didn't really like that one either). When you said "stretching the anime", I thought you meant conceptually, and in my mind there shouldn't be a limit on what you can and cannot make given a certain anime. In my opinion, this video doesn't push those boundaries and since there are many other Death Note AMVs on the .org that create the exact same atmosphere as this one with very similar music...I dunno, I just get bored with it because I've seen it enough times already, and it doesn't do anything for me.

Ok, well, we'll just have to agree to disagree, because I found all three of those videos to be rather predictable and, as such, on the boring side. This is just my opinion - they were edited well enough, but I don't judge a video on editing alone. If it doesn't engage me, what has it accomplished?

finally watched it (yeah sleep and cleaning up cat poop came first.)

Some may think my opinion to be biast but this is without a doubt the best death note amv i have seen so far. This is not the genre you usually edit too being a more ubeat/dance person so it's good to see you get dirty like this ... and you did it very well, your editing was hawt consistantly throughout the whole amv with some nicely placed effects.
nice encode and cleaning.
I've never heard the song (and i usually haet papa roach) but this I like. My 1 comment to detract from all this praise is the blantant abuse of opening credits it's good footage but somewhat overused XD

Hm. I kinda agree with Crack for the most part. It basicly just felt like a generic action video, just that the scenes used aren't your typical fights / explosions.
I just think it's incredibly hard to make a really good video to Death Note. Bringing the reason across why I loved the series, the intelligence of the characters, that is.

Now make your Eurobeat AMV. Gogogogogo.

@CrackTheSky and OropherZero: My opinion in all of this is that the series lacks on good videos in general. Yeah, there are 400 videos done to it, but I feel that 99% of them aren't what DN deserves. Do the next DN videos need to be different from that minority of good ones? I don't know, but I'm sure this show needs some good editors to edit with it cuz I'm still not satisfied with only 1%.

EDIT: Can't believe I haven't heard this song from Papa Roach . Loved the editing and flow, though it seemed a bit random to me (don't worry, all Death Note AMVs looks random to me :/). Not more to say, I liked it a lot to really critique on something else lol. freaking loved the song

4.5/5, probably will round it to 5 :D , nice job
Sorry about that randomness, at first I didn't really planned on story, but I changed my mind as I edited farther on. Thanks for watching Omega =)

EDIT: Pretty good video, although it does feel a little typical of an action Death Note video. I like the changes you made from the beta =D. More to be said in the op =)

I haven't realy watched death note but I still enjoyed this video.
It has lots of good flow and sync in it
And that song is great too
Thanks, glad you liked it :)

I've been expecting it a lot of time. :D :D

edit:
I see that you changed some scene selections since the beta you sent me.
Nice action video, not anything special though. It's normal however since it was a way to get over your editing block. If I'd want sth more from it,that would be to stick to the synch more.It had movement,it had flow, but some parts just screamed for more synch(like at 2:10-2:15).
I also observe that you kinda butchered the song(from 3:36 to 2:30).But since you nicely cut it without the difference becoming vivsible,I can't have any complaints.
:D :D

ps:Yeah,I know I may sound bad but it's just that I had in mind this song for a future amv of mine and I compare this amv with what I am supposed to do when I get to it.

4.4/5 => 5/5 just for you Marko!! 8-)
Thanks for the detailed comments Themis :D

CrackTheSky wrote:Death Note? Aw, you let me down Scorp.

EDIT: Ok, let me just get this off right off the bat: I *hate* Death Note videos. I have not seen a Death Note video yet that was worth keeping - they all feel the same and none of them seem to have any conceptual difference between them. Also, I *hate* Papa Roach. You were at a severe disadvantage to begin with.

...Now you can blame this on the fact that I just flat-out don't like either of the sources you used, but in my opinion this video falls through the cracks and just furthers my opinion that all Death Note videos are the same. It really doesn't feel any different, at all - angsty, and about death. It's...predictable, to say the least.

I'll give you the editing, which did make the video at least watchable for me. Your cuts and minimal effects were all really good, and the video had great flow. The mood was there too...unfortunately it didn't engage me, although you might blame that on my bias.

Overall I give this a 3/5 just because of the editing - the rest of the video really does nothing for me at all. It sucks too because, like I've said before, you're capable of doing much better. Innovate, man, don't just do the same old stuff everyone does.
I understand you completely on the originality stuff. But in my opinion, there's still not enough good Death Note videos. I've seen maybe 4-5 that stand out so far. And that is a really small number for a show of such caliber. For me, this was a project I did due to the lack of ideas I normally do. I also like Death Note, and I'm happy I finished this one. If nothing else, I'm glad people liked the editing here, which is something I personally thought I needed to improve. Although, I'm glad you checked it out Crack, and don't worry I'm already working on the stuff I usually do, and I hope it will be more original than this one.

I think Death Note AMV are starting to be overused such as Naruto's, therefor when i see Death Note's AMV i get boring because the song is always based on strong guitar and someone shouting instead of singing (this is not the case, at least i can understand the song) but is almost the same.

Anyway i kept seeying until the end just for the edition, very well edited.

3.5/5

Now i start to think that i want to see an instrumental Death Note AMV

Thanks for watching and I'm glad you liked the editing :)

I liked the Vid, it was nice, didn't really catch me though. I'll keep it, but don't know when I'll watch it again...

I still don't get the Death Note = overused Thing..I only saw like 5 or 6 Death Note amv's yet o.O
Thanks for checking it out! =)
blaku92 wrote:Ok, let's bash all Death Note amvs based on the assumption that they all have strong guitar (whatever that means) and someone shouting. What's wrong with shouting? It's still singing, just not melodically. I really don't like Papa Roach that much, but I have to say, the editing in this amv seemed different from other Death Note vids and that made me happy. The song wasn't really my style, but overall I enjoyed this.

If you've watched Death Note, it's possible to see that this somewhat follows the story in the anime, if not then I guess it's not that easy. Still my main point wasn't on the story itself, it was more on the character profile of the main character, Light. As for the title, you can read about it in the video profile, but it's covered in anime spoilers  . And about the shake effect; it was more rational option for some parts due to the lack of scenes. Thanks for the comments :)

Thanks Aut, glad you liked it that much. Op/Ed scenes happen to have the most dynamic and action footage, so that was the reason I used them..

I know it feels generic, but I'm not that much of an editor to make DN non-generic.
As for the Eurobeat: nah, even though I have a couple of ideas, I'll leave that up to you, that's your stuff :D

Even though the stuff you "normally do" is what you excel at, don't misunderstand and think I want you to stick to that stuff all the time. I think you have the potential to be an outstanding editor in any genre of video you choose to make. What made videos like Feel The Mambo and Keep The Beat Up! so great was that they were unlike any dance/upbeat videos I'd really seen before. Sure, they're great videos in their own right, but they both had your mark on them in that unexplainable way (at least, unexplainable at 4:00 in the morning). I'd like to see that carry over to your drama videos, but so far they've just kinda melted into the crowd and been (to me, at least) forgettable despite the skill presented in terms of editing.

So...yeah. You've got a lot of potential, I just don't think it's all been realized yet.
