That's not strictly true. It's because the editors that led Phade to create a site are English speakers (and not all are American, anyhow: dokidoki, Vlad, and AbsoluteDestiny come to mind immediately). Had the major movement in AMVs been in some other language, I doubt Phade would have seen the need for this site. There wouldn't have been enough English speakers in the movement to matter.

Beyond that, let's be honest. English is the current global language. Lingua Franca without the Franca. Most major programming languages are based in English, web coding certainly is, and the vast majority of websites are English. Although America certainly has a big chunk of that, it is aided in the remnants of the British Empire, which are spread across the globe, and are more likely to be Developed Nations than other countries speaking something else.

I have to agree with Arigatomina, Sayde, and the OP. Marking something as non-English is no more discriminatory than the site itself being in English. If anything, it allows non-English editors to feel more comfortable the site can serve their audience because if they uses a song in their native language, those those are looking for it can more easily find it.

Who are we kidding. It's not about being discriminitory or not, it's about being politcally correct. And since when did people start taking post-it's nonsensical comments seriouslly?

Please don't say things like that. It's mean. The comment was completely valid in this case, regardless of what else that user may have posted elsewhere in the past.

Anyway, perhaps I should have clarified. I'm not against a thread with non-English music at its core. I'm against referring to English as a foreign language and using that as the criteria for said thread. Maybe it really is just a matter of being politically correct (which some may see as unimportant), but one should always prepare for all types of reactions to an action - in this case, you could upset someone by treating English/Japanese like they're all-important by excluding them from the concept of "foreign." In short, the idea wasn't bad. The criteria for the idea was. That's all I really meant to say. Sorry if it got misinterpreted by anyone.

I want Japanese included in the thread or given a thread of its own. I was actually surprised we didn't already have a "Videos using Japanese songs" thread in the rec section. We have a thread thread just for Japanese editors, a thread for Japanese music should be a given. ;p

.. nonsensical comments .. value-less .. relying on experience instead of being politically incorrect ..
Guilty As Charged. I've been a non-conformist all my life. Federalist by nature. Standards. yup!

.. soo BasharOfTheAges, how long is it going to be if the Languages are separated before the TV series are also separated by visual content? ( or do you already have that TV Series part separated in your mind -- by default! )

I still believe having this topic (Recommended non-English videos) is useful just because there is no way to filter by non-English song in super search unless we know what the song or the artist is.

If we can have Recommended Instrumental AMV and Recommended [insert anime title here] AMV, then surely we can have this.

I've been watching this, and have mixed feelings about it, so I just set it up as a poll instead. It'll run for a couple of days. At the end of it, I'll just go by what you guys vote.
