AMV orginization

Post by Evangelion Unit 01 » Tue Jul 10, 2007 11:22 pm

I was just curious to know how other people keep their AMVs organized on their computers.
For me its

Anime Music Video Folder

(Then in there there is)

Drama Comedy Other

(In drama and comedy I use the star rating to name each of the folders in Drama and Comedy. It use to be in one folder, but I have to many I had to divide them u[ some more.)

Other

-Ads (You guessed it trialers and Ads of anime)
-Arts for Arts Sake (The Fun and Dance AMVs)
-Adult (Only Adult AMVs like AMV Hell 0)
-Games (Video Game AMVs, Trailers, and reviews)
-Non Anime Videos (All Else)

(These are not divided into sub folders of a star rating system like Drama and Comedy. The reason is because there are too little AMVs in each of the folders to divide them yet.)

And that is how I organize my AMVs. So how about yours?

Meh. Time for my OCDness to finally perk it's ugly head.

I have on my desktop: My AMV's

Inside that folder is a folder for EVERY anime that I have a music video for. Even the anime with more than one anime. Then, inside each of those folders is a folder describing its content. This includes: Drama, Romance, Dance, Action, Effect, Comedy, Character Profile, ect.

Now ask me how I organize my pictures and photoshopped images.

I have an amv folder with everything in one place sorted by how recently I got it |:

When I feel there's getting to be too much on the computer I burn stuff on to discs in no particular order.

I have them all over the place. I Stumble on vids all the time, that I don't even remember downloading. But Even though they are scattered everywhere, I know where the important ones are. besides, I don't keep a whole lot of the AMVs I download. Unless they are really good.

I have one folder for my permanent collection, organized into one large list alphabetically by 'Anime - editor - Artist - "Song".' Videos not in my permanent collection sit in my main media folder while they wait for viewing, star ratings, opinions, etc. - or movement into the collection.

I find that sufficient for organization. My main media folder (named "Springer's Stuff" as a very old in-joke) is much, much more divided. Current stats are 36410 files spread over 1684 folders. Keep in mind that this is the addition and deletion of files from over ten years and four HD data transfers to new computers. I've had this folder for a long time. I'm sure other people have more, of course, but those are my stats and how I organize things.
