Reply time, before my weekend excursions >_>
Ingow wrote: ...I thought that the afro samurai one was freakin' kickass :p

rock-action at its best, outro had a nice beat to it too :O

the mononoke video was great editing-wise and the song was very powerful. It's also nice to see an epic-type of video that's not working with a source that pretty much does all the work by itself through its high end animation pictures. the only thing that still bothers me I'd have to say would be that it's not a completely fresh concept but in the end I enjoyed both videos a lot :>
Thanks a lot, I'm glad to see people's opinions differ slightly than mine in regards to the Afro video, and that you enjoyed both :P
kisanzi wrote:Action sync? Flashes? Overlays? Who still uses those...?

j/k

Very smooth stuff. Both video have a simular flow to them and they both work seemlessly with their sources. I especially like the Mononoke vids' use of "stutter" cuts, very stylish. Keep up the pace and keep putting out more great vids!

VNS FTW.
Yeah, yeah, I'll be sure to whore out effects in my next video, or something :P
VNS ftw :O
WC Annihilus wrote:Nice job on both (though the outro on the afro one was long though =O)
Thanks, as for the outro, I'm not really sure why I made it so long, I just really like that track I suppose >_>

Thanks for the op :)
RathiSponge wrote:I enjoyed both of the videos, good editing and synch. I didnt enjoy the Afro Samurai one as much as the Princess Mononoke , it may be because I didnt care much for the song used in the Afro Samurai AMV. Not your fault though just personal preference. Good job on both though :D
Thanks, I have to agree with you on this one, I prefer the song with Hallowed Rage as well :P
Prodigi wrote:Lurv the AS vid. Mononoke vid was gewd times too. Only downside to either is the length ;_;

9/10 - AS

8/10 - Mononoke
Hey, hey, it's not the length of the video, it's how you use it...
(Thanks :P)
ScorpionP wrote:I liked the Afro Samurai one, so I guess I'll check the other one, too:)
Please do, maybe it'll give you a neat sort of contrast, or something >_>
Thanks for the comments :)
Lockstock wrote:i'm with prod, they weren't long enough :/

but yeah, afro samurai one was actually pretty good and the mononoke one was really well done ^_^
Damn Aussies :O
Warheart wrote:Well instead of making 2 videos you should have focused on one video and combine the effort of thsoe two. Still both are decent stuff to watch nothing I'd keep for long though since they have nothing special about them that makes them stand out, other than being oldschooly (no effects no unique sceneusage). Anyway that's it.
These two videos were done in a fairly seperated timeframe, I was just really disappointed with the AS one that I never got around to compressing and uploading it. Though I do agree, I think the final product of one larger/more work video would have looked nicer, I enjoyed working quickly and simply with these videos.
Thanks for the input, and I'll get to work on making something special that stands out now though, just for you Alex ;-*
Fair_Child42 wrote:both had a somewhat rushed feel to them, (especially for you Mr. 5 months)

But I think it forced you to keep things simple. and I mainly liked the simple action synch and such.
Yay for simplicity. But yeah, I do agree that they have a rushed feel (AS more than Hallowed Rage, to me) but I also thought that would be an interesting outcome, to just barrel through it and look at raw cuts, whatever just comes out, rather than making little tweaks along the way.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, I must admit I'm kinda surprised by the positive feedback, maybe I'm just too critical of my own work >_>

What, no reply for me? >:O

Anyway, I finally watched them once my internet stopped crapping out long enough for me to download them. I have to agree that they aren't your best work so far, but they're by no means bad either. The Afro Samurai one was a fairly well edited action video, though it didn't really hold my interest much because AS is not really my cup of tea. I really enjoyed the Mononoke one, however. I'm not sure why, but just like what you did with it. Good job Krat.

Sweet job on both videos, Krat. The AS vid had this raw style that just made it enjoyable for me personally, while the Mononoke vid was chock full of that awesome sense of intensity. It was a real treat seeing Hallowed Rage on the big screen at acen, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next. Neither of these may have been your best effort, but they were still good, solid endeavors. Great stuff indeed. :D

VNS ftw.

I thought both videos were quite awesome. I think I enjoyed the Mononoke video more, though...partly because I love the movie, and the song you used is totally kickass. I also liked the ending - it wasn't something I expected. Overall, I thought both were really solid action videos. Good stuff. :)

woops forgot to respond to these. I actually dug the Afro samurai one, even though its realy just oldschool action synch, but it was done well with the song.

The mononoke one I agree is a better song, and you synched it nicely. it felt like a trailer for a movie youd find on the internet showcasing all the highlights of the movie and all the action. good work ;p It made the movie look alot more action packed than it actually is ;p

The Afro Samurai video I liked better than the Mononoke one. That stutter editing just didn't do it for me.

4/5 and 3/5 respectively.

I felt that the Mononoke video was 'over-synced' but I still enjoyed it.

The Afro Samurai was very well edited. Simplicity is sometimes good - i liked it, especially the tight beatsync at the beginning. Quality could have been a lii~itle better ;)
4/5

Same goes for the Mononoke one. The mood sync was very good and the video was synced awesomly overall. No problems with the quality here.
4/5

nice amvs ;)
