Two Videos - Better Late than Never

Post by Resk » Thu Feb 24, 2005 3:41 pm

Ok, so I've finally gotten around to uploading 3 videos I've been working on for the past couple of months.

The first, is 'Expansion' done to FFIX with the song 'Breakaway' by Kelly Clarkson. It was finished last year in November, and can be found here.

The second, is 'A Time of Need' done to FFX and FFX-2 with the song 'Holding out for a Hero' by Jennifer Saunders. It was finished last year in December, and can be found here.

Hope you like them. Personally, my favourite of the two is the second one. I think you might get a kick out of watching it ;)

Just noticed I said three in the above post. The 3rd video I'm working on getting the file size down, so it's small enough to upload. It should appear within the next few days.

Awesome. :)
One of the best FF videos I have seen.
The length of the video is 4:01, but you managed to keep me standing on my feet the whole time.
Enjoyed it a lot. The use of keying and overlaying was awesome.
The nitpicking I have, is the filesize being kind of big (over 90MB), and interlacing.

Mmm.
The lip-synch wasn't that good, (seeing as lip-synching with FF footage is hard), but other than that, I found it alright. I know the source footage was limited, but there were scenes I felt did not relate to the video strongly. (Such as footage of Auron, and other characters besides Yuna and Tidus.)
Again, solid editing with good keying/overlays.

Overall, I will have to say that Expansion easily won the spotlight over Holding out for a Hero for me.
Awesome stuff. :)

hehe, thanks ^_^

Yeah, with the file sizes, I made these files back in November and December, before I learned how to compress the audio. Luckily, I've fixed that problem, and further videos I upload should be smaller in size.

Also, interlacing has always been a problem for me. Still trying to fix that.....

With 'A Time of Need,' the clips of Auron are there just as amusement (as in Shrek 2, where this version of the song is from, that part features Puss.) Although, I'm curious as to what aspects of the lip-syncing weren't that great (for my own knowledge, so I can fix it in the future). I thought I had gotten most of them fairly bang on, but perhaps not.

Ah, I see.

Specifically, the first part of the video where Yuna is singing/lipsynching. The mouth movement does not match the entire time. [Although I saw how you synched certain parts, the other parts did not correspond too well with the rest of the lipsynch, due to the difficulty of manipulating live action footage.]

Go see the videos now guys!

i'm sorry, but i didn't really understand that vid....
call me crazy, but that probably wasn't the right footage to go with that song... i think something a little more... interesting... would call for effect...
don't ask me which footage... just not that one...
yes, they... call me... EMO CAT-BOY...
And i'm sooo confused...

Well, the video revolves around how it's not the winner or the loser that matters, it's about how the battle was fought. When you examine the FF series, there was never a 'bad' guy and a 'good' guy. Just two different people with different goals; i.e Squall vs. Seifer. Seifer pursued his dream of being the Sorceress's Knight. Squall prevented this because his goal, while admirable, was wrong. A similar connection can be found in the rest of the FFs: Zidane and Kuja; Seymour and Tidus. And then of course, the battle extends to how the character's actions effect the world around them, and the people they come to know and trust.
