"Variations of D Minor" is up

Post by Vancore » Fri Jun 13, 2003 4:07 am

Actually its been up for awhile I just haven't promoted it much or anything. This is a Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust vid done to Rhapsody's ""The Dark Tower of the Abyss". It premiered at Acen2003 and was the last vid in the contest to show if you were there. The song is a bit weird as in it stops then starts up again in a different.. well variation of a theme. I did my best at trying to change editing techniques to fit the songs many different variations.

Well, hoping that you enjoy it and if you can, download it from the local server. My webpage has a whole 8gb worth of bandwidth so I'm hoping it stands somewhat of a chance for at least a few days.

I saw your video at ACen and IIRC a number of the judges (including myself) voted for it in the action category...actually...the *whole* story was that it was shown in "Drama" and most of us were like "Can we please move this Action because I'd probably vote for it?"

Unfortunately, you didn't win or get enough to be a finalist, but...I just wanted to tell you because..I liked this video quite a bit.

Heh, I remember that...good times :P

Hopefully at ACen2k4 they'll either do real peer judging or do some other method of judging, since I can't help but think that we were part of the screwing-people-over process :/

I second that , though. This video is really cool :D

Thanks for the :ups: guys, and yea, I agree it should have been set in the action catagory. I actually described the vid as a Action/Drama hybrid but at the time I didn't know which one to put it in although I thought it would eventually fall into the action catagory. On afterthought I probably should have asked Quu and co about that while I was there. Ah well, there's still otakon right?

Well anyway, grats on the award, or I should say awards dwchang. Just downloaded your Iron Contest vid. Pretty damn good for two hours, I'm kept wishing that I had attended that event, or at least visited it (I thought the masquarade would be packed like it was last year)

And trythil, can't believe that your vid didn't make it in the contest. Throughout the drama section I was waiting for it to pop up but it never did. Thought you and that person who made the utena vid were robbed of not getting in the contest, but this has already been said. Wishing you better luck in getting into the next contest (Which I'm sure you will).

I downloaded it, but all I could see was a green screen. I think you are aware of the problem though.

Yea, I'm aware of this problem... For some reason when I try to change the codec to divx I can't see it but Xvid works for me (Part of the reason why I didn't announce it earlier). The mpeged version on my page should work well for ya, just not as high quality, that and the page may go down at anytime because I've exceeded my bandwidth. :?

Uhm...we already went into details about how things were screwed up...all we did was name finalists...we didn't choose any of the awards so...no we didn't screw anyone over...the judges did :).

You were at ACen?!? Whoa!!! You should've gone to the AMV creator lunch and so on. Oh and Iron Chef ;). I heard Masquerade wasn't that good this year and someone sort of made me realize it's not worth it. Usually there are about 2 or 3 good costume/skits and it's not worth the 4 hour wait in line and in thsi case missing Iron Chef. I have heard from a number of people that it was a lot more entertaining than the Masquerade (mainly b/c of our judges who entertained..surely not me editing for 2 hours :-P). I look forward to it again next year...it was A LOT of fun.

Oh and thanks for the comments on the video, but I know it sucks :(. Awards plural? Nah, all I got was that which is really just a title and not an award :-P.

YeaH I agree on both accounts, which is why both got honorable mentions. We demanded both of them get this at the very least.

See you next year...be more social :).
