  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Why did I think AviSynth wasn't compatible with Macs...?

I guess. The concept is clearly something very personal to you...to me, that description seems entirely too complex for an AMV, at least a five-minute one. That's a LOT of substance to try and pack into such a short amount of time. Some of the symbolism also seems very...strained, I suppose.

I see what you're trying to say, but it seems like each individual portion of the video isn't developed enough to convey the whole message with any conviction, is basically my main problem.

probably the same reason i did... many months ago he posted a help thread for encoding/cleaning (memory fuzzy) I suggested AVIsynth and the responses from other editors were along the lines of it not working on a MACand that there were plenty of other threads that talk about the same problem...
but it's a fuzzy memory and i couldn't be bothered searching for the thread.

and X2 on what you said... my words failed and invaded your brain... too "conceptual"
ya know after reading that description... i still don't really get it in the amv to be honnest
also yeah greggules i was in a bad mood when i wrote that and didn't feel like mincing words
new banzors in the making :p

Even if we can't put local downloads of Korean stuff, it is incredibly shortsighted of the org to not allow even a video information page (with or without direct/indirect links) since most Japanese animation is done in Korea.

really good video. The anime of the drawing is not my style, but that is not important. Nice work.

Very original video and audio choice. The editing was very solid, and nothing felt out of place. At the beginning it was a little hard to get used to the drawing style, but the video flowed perfectly afterwards.

Eh, jetlag is killing me. Anyway, I now have an Xvid version of this, after much battling, but seeing as this vid really has no long-term lifespan, and nobody has asked yet, I'm not gonna upload it. PM if you want it.

EDIT : Wow, jetlag. Forgot it's available here : http://stage6.divx.com/user/greggus1/vi ... -(Greggus)

Thanks Bauzi!

Thanks :) You get used to the artstyle. I was pretty shocked myself the first time I saw it.

Thanks, Funky! Really glad you liked it.

Eh, and Shino, ZS and Guy, I'd still be interested in hearing what you thought of it :)

Hey! I liked the AMV, the mood was very good, the music and the anime well-fitting. But I especially like the topic of your AMV, it's just about the thing I would make an AMV of, because of the importance of the youth, family, friendship and that kind of things never get explored much. You just beat me to it by making a Mari video!

Sorry I couldn't beta it properly, but I can still give a detailed comment if you'd like. I think it's just too bad there can be no star rating for this.

Oh, the poster is really cool!

Hmm... aren't you guys in the same studio? :D Annnnd Mac + Avisynth? I really have to hear about that, because that would really make things easier! (I always thought that Avisynth needed DirectShow/DirectX or something like that and that's why it wasn't compatible in Linux/Mac)

BTW. I can help you host the AMV if you like, just PM me.

My dear Gregg here I come!

So without knowing anything about the amv and it´s content and only after viewing... My impression was:
Yeah a child trip. Y fantasy of a young lad in his own world. 1. his imagination 2. his living 3. his free time with his friends 4. The farewell of the new summer friend and how the stay back.
Personaly I don´t like the music. A bit too calm and silent and I´m no fan of the french language (I simply don´t like it). The anime was a good excuse for the more calm editing. I think that was good because you gave the viewer time to watch the anime itself and follow a content.

Please focus your little cookie cut on one thing. The hand or the piece of the flower. So: smaller circle or rotoscope the hand.

01:34
Switching to the scene is pointless because you can´t really see something and it distrubs.

01:44
Again pointless and a not good hard cut. Fade out would be better.

02:05
Personally I would let the sound start earlier to get louder. When the cars are already there or the bird. However this was a pretty neat idea.

I think you had nice masking here. :thumbs up

02:57
Pretty good masking part. That was awesome.

4/5
Good editing job (there isn´t too much to complain about), good concept.

Ok I read your info for Ben. As I thought: This video is like a painting. I like the way you lay thoughts into it. After reading it I think it would be cool to assist the concept with a few words you throw into the video. Some small hints...
Like every painting there should stand next to it some information about it and how the artist see his own work and his interpretation.
You took my amv as example, thx for that, take it again and look: I gave a small pdf for information. Please do the same for better understanding.
Thx.

I don't know anything about the source of the video and the design really seemed weird but the amv had a feeling of warmth.Trip, imagination, friends, family and also abstract.
I couldn't understand anything at all but it was enjoyable. The song choices were fitting to the nature of the vid and the editing was very good. However,I don't think it holds a high reviewability value.

3.75/5 from me :D :D
