About In Watercolors; well the song was a little to slow for my taste and thus the editing as well, so for me who hasn't watched the show and thus can't relate to the characters it's actually rather boring.

Video1 = my favourite True Tears video to date.

Video2 = Ef video was pretty and fun to watch, Can tell it was a quicky though, not as much depth in its construction as the TT one.

So I wanted to write poems in response to this videos but then I started watching the videos instead, cause apparently watching these videos > being creative

Seriously, accuse me of being a Jasper fanboy and all, but I liked the songs used in both of these for a long time and it was awesome that you finally went out and made videos to them which were even better than I expected.

In Watercolors - it was my favorite video of yours until The Gift showed up. Which isn't to say it's any worse - and as Bakadeshi sorta suggests, it has a bit more depth (more accurately, it's not so much depth but clever horizontal structure). I just think the mood in The Gift appeals to me slightly more - In Watercolors is a video that gets me thinking, The Gift meanwhile is pure sentimentality without any attempt at drama, relationship dynamics or romance. It still gets me depressed sometimes, but only because it's so much better than anything I can ever make, even in terms of pure sync/flow, but I'll live with it

Both are brilliantly edited, but I find that the more free-form Gift is a bit more playful in little details. I'm still not bored of watching it cause I always find more of them.


But In Watercolors makes up for it with RANDOM CHICKEN synched with even more RANDOM CHICKEN NOISE.

I haven't got a single complaint about either, and demand that these, along with other fine Jasper products, be mandatory viewing for those interested in how good, visually-rich videos are made with limited footage and technical resources.

Now back to looping them.

Haha, congrats on being the first to abuse the stairway! That video was a nice roller coaster ride of emotions though.

I think of it as a little mellower than a rollercoaster ride, but the song does have a surprising amount of breadth, doesn't it?

oh wow the best use of 6mins worth of footage 4/5 (there was a noticeable frame skip during the stairs part probably due to avoiding the subtitles/watermark

Hehe, it was actually a little under 4 minutes total once you leave out all the stills at the beginning and the advertisements at the end. I pretty much had to milk the footage for all it's worth. (I doubt that's a frame skip; it's probably one of my speed manips.)

Yeah baby, the EF : TLT invasion starts. xD I guess you must have turbo-editing skills to be the first one to use some new footage roaming around, or I just edit at the speed of a snail.

Actually, I'm not a fast editor at all. For some reason I just edited compulsively this time, putting in way more hours per day than I should have, heh. I didn't really rush at all; I just wanted to edit like crazy for extended periods of time. Ah well, drop me a PM when you release yours, okay?

About Watercolors :
This one was very good too. It started just like an ordinary boring drama/romance vid, but as the video progressed, it got better. The sync style fit very well with the song, which is great too. This one got me interested in the anime, seemed very beautiful, both graphic- and emotion-wise.

Yay, that's the exact kind of reaction I was hoping for from people who aren't familiar with the anime/music. Thanks!

I loved the True Tears video, it did justice to the show. Also, you did a good job on mixing both main female characters in one video.

Glad you think so. I'm actually not a huge Noe fan (everybody's gonna boo me for that now ), but hopefully that didn't show too much in the video, haha.

Ah, I was hoping that everybody would be able to relate to the story at least a little, but that, I guess, is dependent on whether my editing was effective enough to catch your attention on the first go.

Well, I think I gave it my best given the footage limitations. Like I said, I wasn't really in any rush. I actually waited a week before releasing in case I wanted to go back and fix stuff, but at the end of the week, I was surprisingly satisfied with it anyway. Anyway, glad you enjoyed these, and I'm looking forward to your Otakon video.

It's always great to hear that other fans of the songs think I did them justice. I think this will be the year when I stop being timid about using my favorite musical artists in AMVs and JUST DEW IT.

actually it's that sort of thing that turned me off watercolours, there were quite a few "useless" scenes the chicken being the example that stuck with me. I felt the editing was a little off at the very begining but it flows nicely throughout. I just felt there was too much time spent on back story.... *shrugs* source shortage i guess. The other major turn off was how similar it resembles voice of a distant star and all those others, I just rolled my eyes as it started playing and I guess you know what I was thinking >.<;;

Ef- heh. not a random dance song to the anime i didn't like the music tho, vienna teng's(sp) music just made this one pale in comparrison, so it just didn't have the kinda "feeling" I thought the other did.

anyway nice sentimental vids but neither really grabbed me.

Well see, this is why I tried to make a video that rewards you for watching it multiple times (if you are so inclined). There was a lot of series-specific footage I could've used but didn't. All of the "useless" scenes actually contain repeating motifs, and different parts of the video tie into each other. But it's up to you to figure out what these ties mean. That's why I hoped that people unfamiliar with the anime wouldn't get stuck on thinking "jeez, I wish I knew what was going on here" and instead wonder a bit and come to their own conclusions. I know it's a pretty unrealistic expectation though. I tried my best to make people want to watch it more than once, but alas, it can't always work.

I liked the atmosphere of them both.. really nice

I prefere The gift I think but just by a small difference. The footage was great and there were really cool like camera moves and stuff and it matched the song quite a lot.
In watercolors is so beautiful, it nearly made me cry xd speacially near the beginnig. Near the end it got a bit tedious though.. but it's still lovely

I loved both. I liked the song in In Watercolors better, but I thought The Gift was prettier and visually more interesting...so it kinda evened out. Good job with both of them, they both have very tangible atmospheres, and I was able to get into both.

4/5 for both.
