My newest AMV
Unspoken Numbness (IIIVFF)
Anime: FFVIII
Song: Numb (piano Instrumental [version])
Info: all the clips that were used was reversed. Used VDM and Avisynth for the chorus overlays. And to convert it to Xvid. Enjoy

This video were better quality.. i would LOVE it... even though its numb... pianos sound so beautiful... and the reversing... well it didnt really change my opinion on the video... a few spots shoulda been timed better, but overall... if it was good quality, i would absolutely love it... *recommended anyways*

yea I been tryna work on that, actually, but no matter what I do, it either turns out just a lil bit better or not at all. The only other thing that changes is the audio improves a lil bit. I think when I get a better editor I'll remake (or remaster) this one. Thanks

Just a couple of main points this time, I think...

- all around quality needed work. I heard little pops in the audio occasionally. With the overlays especially, the video quality got so bad sometimes that it was hard to make out what was going on. Also, all scenes should have been cropped down to the same size. Damn that final scene for being letterboxed, because it's a problem that then needs to be addressed in every AMV.

- I liked the idea of Squall and Rinoa coming undone, so your scene choices were nice. I didn't always like the beat sync, and sometimes the overlays were more distracting than anything.

- reversing the clips worked well in some parts, but it was just silly in others. Example: Rinoa running through the dark field in the final scene. It just looked a little laughable to see her running backwards for no real reason. Other times, though, it worked well symbolically, showing the two moving away from each other.

Not my favorite FF video I've seen, but it does have one of the more interesting concepts out there. I'm glad I watched this. ^_^

- Jen

PS: it's not quite made for videogames, but this guide's concepts can be used in parallel for helping with your quality.

Thanks for your input. I actually had a discussion with a fellow member about the quality issue. I did have a look at the guide, but never really went through it good enough to remember anyhting. With this input, I'm thinking of doing the AMV over again when I get a better editor (which should be soon) and choose some of the scenes more wisely. I'm also thinking of reripping the footage all over again, since the output codec I chose was either Divx or Xvid (can't really remember). But I think this would be my last FFVIII only AMV I have planned (unless I use it in a multi or if something comes up on the spot). And also I'll be sure to read the guides more thoroughly. Thanks again
