hey everyone
this is my first AMV i've attempted, so check it out and tell me your thoughts. Tear it apart or be gentle, all is fine with me as long as i get some insight for future productions. Cheers

- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.

Somehow, after all this time, I still haven't managed to get sick of Final Fantasy AMVs yet. So, also seeing as how this is your first video, I wanted to give it a shot.
This is pretty good, you know. For the most part, you were matching the beats, although it looks more like you were timing your scene changes around the lyrics - which is a good thing, too. At first, it seemed like just another rock song to an FF game, but after I really listened to the lyrics, I understood why it fit FFX so well.
I thought I caught one or two repeated (or nearly repeated) scenes. The one I'm thinking of is the scene with Lucil on the chocobo at Mushroom Rock Road. It wasn't a big deal, since it was only a scene or two, but it's something to know.
My one lament is that I wish you would have taken this in a more chronological order. Yes, you were picking scenes that matched the lyrics, which is good, but it felt like they were coming from all over the game. I don't usually complain about chronology in AMVs, but in this case, I think it would have done well.
Video quality was decent, but it could have been better. The technical guides on this site can help with that. However, I am glad to see you already working in .avi, even on your first video. That's a step in the right direction. Audio quality was fine, but for some reason, the song skipped for a split second at the very beginning and the very end of the video.
Overall, this was a solid video. It's nothing spectacular, but it held my attention the entire time, and I found it enjoyable to watch. Nice work. ^_^

hi and thanks for checking it out dj_ultima_the_great
your pretty much spot on with what you were saying.
This video was what you could call an experiment and yes, i was primarily matching the scenes to the lyrics. As to the repeated scene i didnt actually notice how simular they are. Technically speaking they are different clips but they are very similar. As for the video quallity your right, it was all that good and thats mainly because it was a complete experiment to compress it because i've never done it before. Although i do have it uncompressed on my computer but its a much larger file. As for the audio it does skip a little for some reason. That happened when i compressed it down so i would say its just the program i used. Can you recoment any programs that could do a better job?
Well thanx again, i'm off to check out some off your videos and trying to learn more.
Cheers

Heh... before you go off downloading any of my stuff, you should know that those aren't good examples. I'm still learning the technical points, too, and I have yet to make a video showing what I've learned. In fact, it's been nearly a year since I've made one. Actually, learning the technical stuff is one of the main reasons I've been on hiatus for so long. So, to save you some effort, I'm going to reference you again to the guide that I linked to in the first post. That really does have everything you need to know, and has much better examples than anything I have to offer.
If you get stumped or stuck, try doing a forum search (one of the buttons at the top of the page) to see if there are any threads that have addressed the issue. Chances are, others have asked the question before. If it turns out to be a unique issue, though, then there are specific forums (Software Help, etc) where you can post the problem.
And another note: the guides may seem like a little much to understand at first, but if a dumb blonde like me can be patient and keep at it 'til I've learned the material, then I think anyone can. ^_^;;
So, here's the link to the AV Tech guide again.

PS: about the audio... I'm not sure what program you're using to begin with, and I'm not the person to consult anyhow. The guides have a pretty extensive section on audio, too, so you may find your answer there.

hey
i've had a brief look at the guides section, but not a long hard look yet. I've only been at the concept of AMV for a week now so there's no doubt i have a lot to learn. Thanks for the advice and btw the main reason i wanted to check out your videos was because i'm a very curious person. Not because i just wanted to see how good you were or anything.
So far i've had a look at "fantasy complete" which was your first AMV?
Overall i thought it wasnt to bad.
ciao
