Post by Adv1sor » Tue Apr 04, 2006 9:02 pm

'comon, which do you consider your best?

Not necessarily your highest rated, but the one you consider your best?

Ooh, good answer. If I can get it done in time for ACEN, then my answer is the same as yours.

For ones that are currently available, I think Nausicaa, the Reluctant Warrior has stood the test of time very well.

In descending order,

Decisions (November/December 2004), Shinji's Irresistible (October 2003-May 2004), Solace In Destruction (February/March 2004), or Kamui, Don't You Think? (August/September 2003)

Those last two need to be rereleased or remastered, though. I have a better encode of Kamui that I just haven't released yet (although it'd probably be better to remaster it from scratch, preferrably with the Japanese R2s - the English release of the X movie is piss-poor quality).

The ones in my head that I haven't made yet. I rate all the videos I've made so far the same.. I must wait till I come out with something that actually stands out from them.

by far, my best work is the one that is...(looks at calender) about 5 months late
really hoping I can get it done for ACEN. (I still have about a week, Chicago is pretty close)
even if I don't miss ACEN I want to enter it to Otakon

Actually, I gotta agree with x_rex on this one. Currently, my best video is still pending on me getting the resources I need (and the experience with a new program that I also need). However, of the ones I've finished, my personal "best" is 'Evolution or Mutation?'. Lately, though, I've had quite a fondness for my uber-cute 'How Happy You Made Me.' All the rest are decent, I guess (well, most of them...I think... >_>;; ), but those two always stood out for me. Probably cuz they have the best storytelling in them.

Anyway, there are tons of people on this site who got way better than me in a fraction of the time, and I'd like to see what their posts consist of. It's always neat to see what the editor thinks of his or her own work.

Given that I've only done four vids, that's a pretty easy one for me--my newest, Stay With Me. My first two suffered from a lack of resources (slow computer, old version of WMM, bad source material), as well as experience in making videos, while my third was simply too simple to really fit here. There was also a huge span of time between my second and third vids--roughly two years, so I'm sure my attitude towards the craft changed in that time as well.

One other thing which changed with this newest video--I'm a journalism student, and just finished a TV course. So with Stay With Me, I was thinking about the clips I chose a bit differently in light of the things I learned there. I'm sure that knowledge helped a bit as well.

I'm under no illusions about my skill, I know I'm far from the best around. But I do think I'm getting better with each video I make, and I'm sure that will continue into the foreseeable future.
