Favorite type of project?

Post by Gaikotsu » Wed Nov 12, 2003 7:53 am

I was just wondering what type of amv everybody enjoys working on the most. For example, do you prefer using footage from one series, where there's a lot of material to use, but pinpointing a specific scene can be a pain? Or do you prefer movies/OVAs where there's a lot less footage to work with, but it's easier to find what you're looking for? Or maybe you prefer multi-source projects, which offer the most material, but can be difficult to keep a steady theme throughout?

I realize that each individual project has it's own positive and negative qualities apart from this, but this is just a generalization. Also, if you want to list what genre you like best, (drama, comedy, character profile, etc), feel free to do that too.

Personally I'm really starting to like multi-source projects. I just finished my first one, and had a great time while doing it. I don't really have a favorite genre, as I've done character profiles, comedies, drama and action amvs. As long as I have a decent idea, I'll use it.
Who knows what fires burn in the souls of others, or what burdens weigh upon their hearts?

I definitely like multi-anime projects a lot, though quality is more of an issue. I just like trying to get the footage to parallel with other anime - or clash, depending on what I'm doing. But then, I also like single anime projects where I have to get the most out of a limited amount of footage. My real favorite, if I picked a genre, would be fast editing. Namely action, or anything that involves short clips - a lot of them. It's more of a challenge with my editor, and I like the challenge - it makes the vid better to watch if I know it was a nightmare to edit. ^_^

I like projects I can look back on and think - "I did that, and I'm never going through that again."

I like anything. Just as long as I have fun with it.

Good call.

A romantic multi-editor project sounds like it'd be fun to try, although it'd be harder to pull off well compared to previously done projects.

I'd say the type I like working with the most is a single, full-length series. Using a movie or short OAV series can be difficult, as there is limited footage and sometimes there's no option but to use scenes that are mostly filler material. Then again, some of the really long-running series can be very difficult to screen when searching for each potential scene. So, 13-26 episode series are usually what I prefer.
