This is not true, you must have a setting on your coputer which does this or something. I have videos I have downloaded a month ago that I still have and I have view more than once than without continually downloading the video.

Some examples are Initial Dream and Megaman Hero.

No. Read again. I say you have to download from youtube or similar sites again if you want to watch it again. It's the advantage of downloading from the Org that you can keep a copy on your harddisk.

It is not your decision to what goes on the site and what doesn't, it is the Site creators and Site Admins decision to what goes on the site, this is mearly a site "feedback" forum. Not a debating forum on what you think is right or wrong for the site, this was a thing I was thinking of. Many people who go to Youtube and other Streaming sites are looking for ways for people to view their videos not for quality but for the art of the video. After all people who love video games don't play for the graphics but for the story and such. Thats why so many people play retro or old video games.

After all I mean anime didn't start on the greatest quality (pokemon, Sailor Moon etc etc) but people still love them. even today people watch old anime from along time ago because of the story and such.

That confuses me a bit! So you're saying, with opening a thread here you can say what you think is right or wrong for this site, but in reply I can't?

You should take lessons in freedom of speech. And about decision making either. It's important to know the pro's and con's to make decisions.

Noone forces you to upload your AMV's at the org. You can upload them to youtube and link to it in your video profile. As you can see it's rarely used. So you can tell how "interested" AMV creators are to stream their work.

Yes I can say what is right or wrong for the site in the topic because it is a FEEDBACK forum. If you wanna make a topic saying that you think streaming shouldn't be on the Org at all. Make a thread for that then.

Just because not many do its because its another job when it could already be there. Its already enough of a job to actually get them on the site along with uploading. I mean six pages of information followed by FTP upload. Youtube is faster than that. As you can see I have some videos of my own on the site so yeah...I am not just a viewer.

This is not a debating thread or anything. Just a feedback forum. For giving the site hints about what people like, not a place to see someones idea, not like it , then trash it all over in everyway. If you don't like it as I said "Make your own topic" instead of trashing someone elses.

Wow... I think you're the one who has the confusion here. You just said that it's a "feedback" forum. Keeper of Hellfire is giving you "feedback" right now, and you're not accepting it. Yes, yes. Admins decide what goes on the site, but this site is run by member donations. Thus, if an overwhelming number of us do or do not want something on the site, the admins listen to us first.

Also, Keeper of Hellfire had no reason to make a thread of his/her own. The .org doesn't have streaming to begin with, so it didn't become an issue until you brought it up. Why in the world would he/she make a thread about "no streaming" on a site that doesn't have streaming anyway??? Moreover, if Keeper made a new thread, it would just be debating this one anyway, except not inside of this exact thread - which is really stupid. Confine similar thoughts to one area.

Yeah, and the .org is a hell of a lot more organized than The Forbidden Site, now isn't it? Those "six pages" aren't just bullshit. They're careful cataloguing, unlike The Forbidden Site, where you just throw in a title and a couple of keywords and hope someone finds your video. This is a specialized hobby site. As such, it needs more structure than a site that allows you to upload anything you want. If there was not structure here, there would be a landslide of erroneous entries compared to what there are now.

Like I said, Keeper of Hellfire is giving feedback as well. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't make it inappropriate for this thread.

Um, in case you didn't know, the forum is for voicing your own personal opinions for the topics that come up. When starting a thread, one should be prepared for people to oppose your ideas because not everyone thinks the same. Hellfire wasn't necessarily "trashing" you idea or thread. He was simply voicing his opinion of the topic at hand. I mean, the forum would be boring if everyone agreed. It would just be an opening statement giving the new idea and everyone else going "yup". If you are simply giving feedback and don't want people to give their opinion on it, pm one of the mods with it instead of making a new thread.

To add, this forum is for the discussion of ideas for new/better site features...which is exactly what was going on. (in short...yeah, it is a debating section)

the idea of streaming video has been discussed before, and it was concluded that streaming the videos would not be a good idea...because of the massive bandwidth usage, trying to enforce a standardized encoding method/codec would be a pain (no to metnion trying to resize/re-encode the videos that don't meet the streaming guidelines...assuming you wanted to be able to stream every vid in the database), and the final point was that we already have local hosting, which eliminates the need for streaming.

Do you know what playing any serious/atmospheric video at a crap resolution on a small area of the screen does? IT DESTROYS ALL SENSE OF IMMERSION.
