  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Knowing Trythil, it's probably ogg vorbis.

What codec?

x264 is fairly unstable -- I made the x264 encode available as an experiment. It plays back with my copy of ffdshow (March 3, 2005 build); I know that recent builds of mplayer can handle it as well.

Frozen shots will more than likely happen. My Athlon64 stutters when playing back the x264 encode: AVC is very processor-intensive, and although there do exist relatively mature H.264 implementations, the open-source decoders and encoders aren't entirely optimized yet.

In short: the Matroska file is bleeding edge :)

If you're playing the local download and are using Windows Media Player, read the video notes. WMP has issues handling 256 kbps MP3 streams.

The only thing that kinda irritated me is that quite a few parts sounded like my first [tape-based] computer
Thanks :D

Ryoji Ikeda puts out some really cool stuff. http://www.brainwashed.com/ryoji/ is his home page; check it out :)

Also, some of his samples come from machinery, so they may indeed sound similar :) According to AbsoluteDestiny, the startup sound for the Sinclair sampler is also in C2:: cacoepy. :)

The visuals are spectacular.
Excellent. I have enjoyed this video very much. : )

It was very different and creative, both in visual and music integration.
The story-telling was needless to say, awe-inspiring.

Scene1- 世界 / The World
Scene2- 最初 / Opening
Scene3- 殿村望都 / Moto Tonomura
Scene4- 死前 / Last Day
Scene5- 最後 / Conclusion
Scene4 sounds iffy as 死前 is not a real word, like you stated.
最後の日 would translate last day, but I'm assuming you wanted to keep the scene titles within a word, and also with the take that 最後の日 would sound repetitive with the Scene5 title card, "最後.”
You may want to use alternate words for Scenes 2 and 5, and/or replace Scene 4 with something else.

Pairings for opening/conclusion that I would go with:
最初・最後
始まり・顛末
始まり・終わり
For scene 3 Last day:
死の前日 ・ The day before death
最後の日 ・ The last day

I would go with whatever pairings you feel comfortable with. Or something. |-:

Anyways, you have created a masterpiece that is top-notch art. : )
Brilliant work, trythil!

Thanks! I was trying to avoid particles: from what I saw of Boogiepop and general signage around Japan, particles weren't really in vogue, but I'll take what I can get. (Tell me if I'm wrong about this: I only saw mostly major cities and some of the countryside, and that's not a very good sample.)

I'll go with 死の前日 -- 最後 is, as you noted, used elsewhere, and I prefer the 最初 / 最後 pairing. :)

Very nice video definietly a keeper. You made a very extraordinary piece here. The concept is convincing and the effects as well as the sound and picture make up a locked door in my head behind which Horrorvideos belong . Very, very good video with alot of inspiration within it.

There's two places where that image appears...I think it was a 4 AM addition during spring break or something :) Weird ideas happen when you willingly deprive yourself of sleep.
