It seems like every time I see a new trailer, the first thing that goes through my mind is “What anime can that be combined with”. Since I like to check out a lot of the new things at GameTrailers.com, I’ve come up with several ideas for combining anime with a game trailer. This is one of them. When I saw the Doom 3 trailer, I thought it would be a good match with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within with its futuristic setting and monsters that look like they could have come out of a Doom game. Actually, I never played Doom 3, but I was a fan of the first 2 games.
Lip sync in this video was particularly difficult to do. Aside from finding characters that matched the voices, I had to find a scene that was an appropriate setting for the dialogue spoken and where the character makes mouth movements that are close to matching the words from the trailer. This wasn’t as easy as with lip sync in anime where I can just take 3 still frames of the character talking and edit with that. Anyway, the lip sync here didn’t exactly come out perfect, but I think it was good enough.

Also, because I thought it was interesting to do for my last game trailer, I created an image representing the game’s box cover similar to the actual game cover.

(Editor’s mindless rambling. Skip this if you like and watch the video.)
Going back on my word to have an actual AMV for my next video, I went ahead and made another trailer. This is the product of my limited time and motivation to actually edit a video and the assumption that making another trailer would be faster and easier than finishing one of my AMV ideas (considering my shortest one is 5 minutes long). I can’t say how long I worked on this since I put this on hold several times, usually because of school work, or in some cases, trying to start up another project. I also spent some time working for Activision (the game’s publisher), so it would have felt awkward making a Doom video while I was working there.
Now that this is done, I’m not sure when I’ll be able to start on my next video, or what that next video will be. I have several other game trailer ideas I’d like to try, but I really think I need to do something different and actually get an AMV done.
