  Let me start by saying that this Gunslinger Girl video is not going to be what you expect. You won’t see a single gunshot. You will only see the aftermath. I do this on purpose, and it is part of the way I tell the story. The action in GSG is not the focus of this video, and therefore might not be along the same lines as other GSG videos you have seen. If you have seen my other videos , then you know what to expect and I have just wasted your time. ;)
  
  If you have ever heard Johnny Cash’s rendition of Hurt you quickly realize that that song is about addiction, specifically his addiction to heroin. I decided to use this theme of addiction, but instead of heroin as the addiction this time is love. Love, like an addiction can make us do things that we never thought we would do, and sometimes with tragic consequences. This is especially true when that love is not returned in the way we want it. This story places two relationships next to each other and explores them. Along with this exploration I tried to add a third element to the relationships and that is for you to discover, for I want you to think as you watch the video. If you don’t like to think, then sit back and absorb the images, but you will be missing out.
  
  I tried to make the effects of this video transparent, and when they weren’t I wanted them to flow with to the music. Instead of being separated from the music they hopefully became a part of it. An example of transparent effects happens at :52 when he is taking the picture within the picture, which becomes the picture. I might have achieved it since the beta testers thought it was part of the original anime. =) Therefore if you are looking for flying hexagons, flashing lights, and the like … I would look elsewhere.
  
  The last thing I will point out is the sound. The music gets really loud at the end and distorted …. It is supposed to be that way, which is how the original CD sounds. Cash wanted his listeners to be overwhelmed by the music, just as he was overwhelmed by his addiction. I hope the footage I used, coupled with the music achieves the same effect, at least a little. (BTW be careful about turning it up to loud at the start for the reason described earlier.)
  
  Well, I feel with this video that I am final comfortable with Final Cut Studio. I hope I have created a video that you will enjoy and that Cash would have been proud of. (Well, that sounded cheesy).
