  • Comments: In the beginning, all I knew was that I wanted to do an Evangelion music video. I didn't know what it would be about or what music it would have, I just knew that it would be Eva. So I searched through the hundreds of songs I'd gotten from Napster and Morpheus, thinking about how relatable the lyrics would be to Eva. I struck solid gold when I came across "Butterfly" by Crazy Town. I could think of a worthy scene for nearly every line! This is my very first attempt at video editing in general, music video or otherwise, so I downloaded the 30-day trial version of Adobe Premiere 6.0 and started learning how to use it. The first productive thing I did was take the Backstreet Boys' "Larger Than Life" Eva video and replace the audio track with "Butterfly", just to get a feel for how my own video might look. Once that was done, I scrapped nearly all of it and cranked out a prototype video in a single 8 to 10-hour sitting. Unfortunately, nearly all of my episodes had an audio format that Premiere couldn't digest, so I had to cannibalize other music vids to make my own. Many of the scenes that I wanted were unavailable. My video resources were so limited that I used the same recycled footage for each chorus. But nevertheless, I was proud of my accomplishment. A while later, I went back and diversified the chorus footage to make the first "finished" version of my video. After that I kept downloading more music videos to made constant improvements. Then I completely scrapped it and restarted using domestic DVD footage, then scrapped THAT and rebuilt it using Renewal footage and a remix of the song. Compared to what it used to be, it's almost a completely different video...
