So what do you get when you do consistently interupted work on a video for about 2 years? You get this.
A German friend of mine and I used to consistently swap MP3s with one another over ICQ every time we got a hold of something we thought the other would like. It was one of these times that he sent me "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime" by Nena and Kim Wilde, as well as the original German version by Nena. I instantly liked what I heard, and it didn't take me long to think, 'Hey, I could make a video to this' and get the wheels spinning. To me, there was one obvious choice, based on the lyrics, "Inu Yasha Movie 1: The Love that Transcends Time".
I spent a lot of time mulling over the lyrics, writing down in my notebook what scenes I thought would go best. After some time, I began running out of ways to support my main theme: I wanted to show that despite their quarrels and the fact that they come from two different worlds, Kagome and Inu Yasha belonged with one another, because Inu Yasha and Kikyou had at one time shared a love. Inu Yasha has been in love with the same soul all this time- and he and Kikyou's love was not in vain, because Kikyou's soul came all the way through time to be with him once more- just in the reincarnated form of a modern day school girl.
For something I wanted to so clearly to illustrate, I was running out of ideas as far as just using footage from the first movie. So I waited until the second film came out, and decided to utilize that. And there were still holes, so I waited for the third movie, and then the fourth. And even then, I still had to pull footage from the tv series. Quite a long ways from being a video based on just the first movie.
So since this video was being pieced together in chunks over a period of 2 years, old ideas I had didn't seem to fit anymore, or some scenes I just didn't even know what I was doing with anymore. I became completely discouraged, and let production on the video lapse for a very long time. I dug it up last week, and decided if I ever wanted to finish it, I would have to just forget all about the dramatics and just have fun with the video- and fill it up with whatever I found to be cute, entertaining, and fun. Once I did that, the ideas just all came to me.
So while this video still has intact some of the original drama thematics I had originally planned for it, it has turned more into a fun romp where you really don't need to stress over what I am trying to get across. And I think I like that best, because for the first time, I actually enjoyed working on this video, rather than laboring and stressing over it.
Motifs to watch for:
*Similarities between the lives both Kikyou and Kagome lead, and how they tie in with Inu Yasha
* Bow and Arrows
*The Shikon no Tama as a connection for all 3 characters- even allowing them to see one another over great distances and different times
I apologize in advance to my viewers for the small "SEV" watermark in the top corner of the video, but I'm getting really tired of 1 out 7 Inu Yasha videos I download having entire segments, transitions, and special effects directly ripped off from our videos. I even had someone take on of our entire videos and just put a different song to it! While this won't discourage the more sinister of AMV thieves, I hope it will at least get my point across. If people could look without touching, I wouldn't have to do this.
*You will need XVID codecs installed in order to view this video properly.
*On the lyrics: I have seen one of the English verses written 2 different ways, and the way it is pronounced in the song, it's hard to decide which. So I've included both versions of the English verse that begins with "bits and pieces".
Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime
"Im Sturtz durch Raum und Zeit, Richtung Unendlichkeit
Fliegen Motten in das Licht, genau wie du und ich
Wrap your fingers round my neck.
You don't speak my dialect,
But our images reflect.
Drawn together by the flame,
We are just the same
Embrace the wind and fall into another time & space.
Gib mir die Hand - ich bau dir ein Schloss aus Sand
Irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann
If we belong to each other,
We belong anyplace, anywhere, anytime.
Im Sturtz durch Zeit und Raum, er wacht aus einem Traum
Nur ein kurzer Augenblick, dann kehrt die Nacht zurueck.
Bits and pieces from your star/storm
Rain upon me as they fall/form
Melt into my skin and I feel warm.
Sweep upon me like a wave.
We are young and brave:
Embrace the wind and float into another time & space.
Gib mir die Hand - ich bau dir ein Schloss aus Sand
Irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann
If we belong to each other,
We belong anyplace, anywhere, anytime.
Drawn together by the flame,
If we belong to each other,
We belong anyplace, anywhere, anytime.
I'm going to anywhere you're coming from.
Anyplace, anywhere, anytime.
