  • Comments: Well, I'd made a _Madlax_ video that I sent off to Animethon. And a _Noir_ video that went off to Anime Evolution. So, I had a fair amount of source footage for both sitting on my hard drive. "Weekend Getaway" is the Madlax/Noir crossover AMV I guess it was inevitable that I would do. Being my humor-impaired attempt at humor, it's a bit of a departure from the other two. Not much commentary to give here: it either speaks for itself or it doesn't.

    I'm not entirely sure, though, what to do with it. Ordinarily, when I finished an AMV, I'd just pack it off to the next contest on the calendar (and post it here once it had premiered), but I don't know about this one. I really don't obsess over winning contests. But I already know that this video will just get torn to shreds, and I don't really enjoy that either. It's going to get torn to bits for a couple of reasons: First, one of the things that everyone tends to care most about is sharp video cuts in sync with the beats of the music. Well, that's always one of my weak points, and in this one, I've just thrown that out the window altogether. The song here is more like background music. Second, we all look hard at technical video quality, and with no source footage available for _Madlax_ yet beyond the second DVD except fansubs, some of the Madlax clips just look like hell. So, in the top two areas that get looked at, I'm a complete non-starter. On top of that, one really has to be familiar with both Noir and Madlax to get anything out of it, and that limits the audience.

    But, having no great reputation to lose, here it is.
