  "The Simple Isekai Life" first took shape during the COVID pandemic. During that time, among the anime that got me through this mess were isekai titles that had more of a "slice of life" feel to them. Upon learning about the song "Give Me the Simple Life", I felt that this would be a good song to depict this type of isekai sub-gene, and while I preferred using the Bing Crosby version, I was fine using the version featured in "Meet the Robinsons".
  
  Between the limited amount of source material I had (even with three shows, it's still a challenge to find footage to fit song), wanting to make AMV's of more recent shows, and me already having plans for certain conventions, this video was in the back burner for a few years. What brought me back to the project was the desire to complete something new for Otakon 2025 (whether or not I felt it could make the main showing), as years of attending cons were starting to take its toll, the events were lacking the luster that they had over 20 years ago, and I really questioned whether or not to attend Otakon that year after the mess I had the previous year (with whether or not I can finish an AMV in time for the con being the deciding factor). After some of my other ideas fell victim to editor's block (one idea I still want to do, but with it being handled differently), I decided to return to working on "The Simple Isekai Life". Luckily, by this time, not only did all three titles I was using from the beginning had second seasons (with the second season of I've Been Kiiling Slimes for 300 Years airing while I was working on the video), but I also managed to find an additional slice of life isekai from 2024, A Journey Through Another World, that I wanted to include alongside the original titles.
