• Comments: This is my second AMV. After I finished my first (Shinji: In The Flesh?) I decided to make one for "The Thin Ice". During that time I was looking at music videos for inspiration (if not just enjoyment), and the music video for Alt J's song Pleader was just getting to me; it was so beautiful, so I was itching to make an AMV based on it somehow. "The Thin Ice' stalled and I decided to put it aside and get to work on Pleader which was calling my name..
  
  Whereas with "In The Flesh?" I started straight away into Vegas, for this one I did a little research on how plots are made, what screenwriters do, etc. to give me a better idea of how to make a narrative in a music video as opposed to mashing a bunch of (sometimes related) clips together in a way that matches (sometimes beautifully) with music. I started to write out a plot, trying to format it in 5 acts or Freytag's pyramid, and I was driving myself crazy. I couldn't figure out how to do a "falling action" and was having trouble lifting character plots from the anime and trying to perfectly fit them into a short video, so I pushed the papers and notes I've made aside and just get to work - hopefully the problem would resolve more organically and the plot would arise as I pieced the intro together and things began to "jump out" at me. And it worked!
  
  After 4 weeks, this came out! I think it was a success, despite the challenges I faced, and my computer's occasional struggle to open and operate Vegas. Since using mp4's often caused preview lag - especially if I were to use video FX), I decided to make the video entirely out of screenshots. They seemed to be higher quality when imported into Vegas anyway. Some people would find that approach absurd, and maybe it is, but it let me get my work done (and wasn't too hard, just slow sometimes). Audio sections were taken from the mp4 and placed by themselves in an audio track.
