Phew, this has been the most ambitious and demanding project I've ever tackled but it's been well worth it. Originally my concept for this video was based around urban/cyber crime, but as I developed it more I realized there was a distinct cyberpunk theme permeating my source material. After deciding to change course a bit I adapted the concept into a cyberpunk tribute exploring the most common facets of the genre.
The core concept I envisioned was the idea of a hacker breaking into a government database with the amv itself being a morphing compilation of surveillance footage that the hacker views by "drifting" from file to file in a digital space, so to speak. I decided the best way to portray this was to make the video as seamless as possible with emphasis on modern visual quality -- thus leading to my decision to take my first stab at converting anime footage to 60fps. Building upon the core concept I decided to break the video into multiple segments focusing on common cyberpunk elements: cybercrime, civil unrest, and man vs machine.
I started the project in February 2015 and spent the next 7 months sifting through and piecing together the project from a source pool of roughly 120 hours of footage. I meant to upload it after I debuted it at AWA but kept getting sidetracked by life lol. Here's to kicking off 2016 with a new amv! Hope ya'll like it! :)
