General:
This AMV was created out of a quick idea. Sojiro approached me and some friends in mid June, explaining how impressively well Disneys Tarzan (1999) was animated. Not having seen that film up until that point I watched it that very evening and liked it a lot. Immediately after listening to the opening song Two Worlds it appeared to me, that this song fits almost a 100% to Wolf Children. Only having seen that Anime for the first time 3 weeks prior and adoring it, I decided to spend only one weekend editing a not-IC AMV, something I do almost once every year.
History:
Before starting on this I got back to Sojiro, discussing the idea with him. We talked the concept and song cut and were discussing a possible collaboration. However, due to time constrains on his part and being hype for editing myself I decided to proceed on my own.
I did cut the audio with two different versions of the Song. Beginning and End derives from the 3:18 Tarzan Soundtrack version while the middle part is taken from the 2:42 Phil Collins Version. Sojiro didn’t like the cut at all and suggested just taking the 3:18 OST version instead, but my concept didn’t work with that one.
I ended up editing all Saturday and Sunday and made some smaller changes the week after.
Name:
At first I was thinking of naming this AMV Two Wolfs but I didn’t like spoiling the “twist” to those who have yet to see this Anime. My second idea was calling it Two Worlds after the song but I prefer if a title explains the essence of an AMV. And seeing how the essence of Wolf Children is life and growing up I decided to call this AMV The Essence Of Life. Also because I’m lazy.
Liberation:
After filling the timeline and rendering a first beta I decided to not release this AMV until after cleaning out my closet. That meant entering and uploading all the missing AMVs to my Org and youtube catalogue, fixing my youtube channel and finishing the epilogue on Liberation. After uploading the latter one to youtube on June 29, I proceeded with TEOL the day after.
I have to admit that this AMV was wrapped up in a rush and is not a 100% polished, mostly due to me being busy with editing my new AMV Project FIRST CLASS and a new MEP called FRACTIONS at the same time.
Also there is a 1% difference between the Org version and my youtube upload. Org is the better one. The changes were the result of a last minute attempt to fix the flow in parts of it.

Special Thanks to:
Sojiro (for recommending me Tarzan, consulting on the concept and beta testing)
