    The Anime

    Shadow Skill is an obscure anime that features a great deal of action and drama with an attractive old-school presentation. Characteristic of anime from the late '90s, the show has a lot of lighthearted comedy moments juxtaposed with intense drama – something that makes shows from this era so engaging to watch. Unfortunately, Shadow Skill has an unusual way of presenting itself that can make it inaccessible early on. But don't be fooled: the show has a very complex and absorbing style that creates powerful emotions in its later episodes, and remains interesting for multiple viewings. Shadow Skill is one of my personal favorite anime TV series.

    The Music

    Circus Maximus is a particularly talented and sophisticated Prog/Power metal band that has emerged in recent years. Their classic 2007 album ISOLATE is still a staple of my music collection. Their most recent album, NINE (which features the track “The One” used in this video) may not be quite as strong as ISOLATE, but it's still an excellent piece of modern progressive metal, worth checking out for anyone who enjoys complex, heavy music.

    The Video

    Editing Fist of God was a learning experience, for sure. I did most of the work in the summer of 2012, and since then I spent some time here and there polishing it up. Getting the timing right in a lot of sequences was much harder than I anticipated, and I also had to re-rip some of the footage, since I did it incorrectly the first time. :(

    The video has a “rough-around-the-edges” presentation that makes it feel a bit amateurish – not bad, necessarily, but I wish to strive for a more professional style in future projects. There are still a lot of really cool moments in this video I can feel proud of, and I hope you enjoy it!
