  I listened to "On Melancholy Hill" for the first time few months ago and it had a strange effect on me that few songs have had. It was happy, sad, uplifting, depressing, and it made me want to smile and cry all at the same time. I imagined a boy sitting on the beach of some forgotten tropical island. The sun is warm on his skin, and the air is salty and appetizing. A wave breaks on the sand and laps at his bare feet. It’s like paradise. Then he looks around and realizes that no one else is on the island but him. So that was the idea behind this AMV: a person who possesses something unbelievably beautiful but has no one to share it with.
  
  I remembered a movie I saw a while back called Ponyo, directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, about a goldfish who wishes to become human and be with a boy. She lives in the sea with all the aquatic beauty that she takes for granted much like how we take the beauty of our world for granted. What if these two worlds collided?
