• Comments: Here it is! My third AMV! My first comedy/parody, inspired by equal parts coffee and wackiness. I decided it was high time to give Disney's TaleSpin the respect it deserves (it was one of the last great things Disney produced before Gargoyles), and what better way to do that than by honoring one of the coolest yet most incompetent villains of all time, Don Karnage?
  
  The planning for this video began about a month before actual production. I had to figure out who got what line in the song. Luffy scored the part of Karnage for obvious reasons, and I tried to give the other characters the lines that fit them the best (even though Mad Dog's voice coming out of Nami is highly disturbing). Unfortunately there wasn't enough for everyone. Poor Usopp needed to settle for being an unseen backup vocal.
  
  This was also my first attempt at lipsynching. And boy is it a doozy. A good 80-90% of the video is dubbed. I think it came out pretty darn good for the most part, there are only a couple of areas I'm slightly unhappy with. But I got it as good as I possibly could.
  
  The only major flaw with this AMV (in my opinion, of course) is that I was forced to use downloaded footage (hence the stretched proportions in order to clip out the HUGE freaking subtitles). Since One Piece just got licensed, domestic DVDs are not available yet (and I have not the money to afford an import), and if I'm going to buy a bootleg DVD, I might as well just download the episodes. Fortunately, the folks who encoded these episodes for Net distribution are quality whores, so I was able to get some nice, crisp source and filter it with AviSynth.
  
  A minor flaw that can't really be helped is the sound quality. The song is a TV rip (Disney never released a TaleSpin soundtrack to my knowledge) courtesy of TaleSpin.net, so it's nowhere near CD quality. It was an executive decision to leave it in uncompressed WAV format instead of using LAME MP3. The quality's bad enough as it is, I didn't want to degrade it any further. Especially since my bandwidth isn't a worry for the moment thanks to the Carrot ^_^
  
  Also of note, I made a new studio bumper to replace my other crappy 2-minute-sketch-with-an-art-tablet logo. This one's lazier, but for some reason it looks better. No cheesy lens flare ^_^
  
  Note: The title splash screen is a Photoshop manipulation by yours truly. Pain in the butt to make, too.
  
  And in the words of Columbo, "one more thing": For anyone interested, the title "Blunder and Lightning" is a TaleSpin in-joke ^_^
