Old skool music for old skool anime. p;
I heard this song and really wanted to use it for something, and thought that Evangelion was a good fit.
After I made that decision, there were some more parallels -
- Both the music (Disengage album by Circle of Dust) and Evangelion were released in 1998.
- As far as I can tell, Circle of Dust is an alternative Christian rock project, although the artist said he didn't like the stigma of being associated with Christian rock, as it encouraged people to have a limited expectation of what his music would be, and he wanted to have more freedom to create. I'm not entirely sure if Disengage was meant to be alternative Christian rock, because it was released after Klayton left the scene, but I think it was intended to be similarly themed, so I'd say yes. There's a lot of Judeo-Christian iconography used in Evangelion - from the enemies being called 'Angels' and that first enemy who shoots exploding crosses. (when the director of Evangelion was asked what the connection was, he just said he put it in there "because they looked cool" - LMAO)
The Prince (of music) formerly known for the Circle of Dust project is now running the Celldweller music project.

I have NO idea what the last spoken sentence is - "the brick is proceeding as planned" ???? - but the tone sounded like something Gendo would say, so... XD
