Background: After my first and relatively unknown video I felt that I needed a lot more practice. So when I set out to start work on a second video that's what I kept in mind. What I can say first and foremost about Mindless Mayhem is that it's a vast improvement over my first work. I spent a fair amount of time doing a little research, but more than that I worked heavily on timing. As such this was a very intensive and time consuming video for me to edit. I also used this video to experiment with a number of effects, and I feel that despite the experimental nature they were well implement ed and not gimmicky. Although I'll leave it up to whatever viewers I get to decide that. Video quality and encoding have been greatly improved over my last video as well. I worked on this video on and off (emphasis on "off") for about 5 months.
The Video: Mindless Mayhem is exactly as it sounds, but don't let that put you off to it. Although the video lacks storyline it has a lot of attention to detail in timing and lyrical relevancy. Lip-syncing provides a sense of consistency and I (hopefully) provided a lot of visual interest to try and pull the viewer into the video. Those of you who have ever had the urge to watch a truly good fight scene or action flick for the pure visual appeal of it regardless of the story will know where the heart of this video comes from. This video is hard hitting, violent, random, well-timed, and occasionally funny.
Music: Although I don't feel that the song accurately represents my taste in music, it fit the bill for the project. It was hard hitting and violent, it was "in your face", and it wasn't a song that I listened to all the time so I wasn't afraid of killing it. (Something that deters me from using a lot of great songs that I enjoy.)
