The short version of "Starlite" premiered at Akross 2009 on October 16, 2009. It ranked 2nd on the dance/fun category and I'm completely content of the placing. My "Fallen from grace" video only ranked 5th in its category, so I'm completely happy with the overall results for this year's competition. Getting to the finals was enough.
The video took me 3 weeks to make.... I think. I started the project around summer and left it unfinished after a week of progress due to work. I picked it up in the middle of August hoping to finish the full version before Akross. The new ending credits was made under 4 hours in new year's eve. I had to cut the original ending since ALOT complained (including myself) that it was literally an eye killer.
Starlite is a "Have fun!!" video, solely depending on the mood of "Heavenly Star" by Genki Rockets. I wanted this video to reflect the "speedy sugary dance AMVs" that involves a high number of cute anime girls, while at the same time making the mood and flow of the video unique and original not mimicing the usual slap and speed up flashy scenes that makes a dance amv.
Nostromo is still my biggest inspiration on making videos and a lot of people can see a number of similarities in editing. This is the first dance video I feel that I have manage to come up with a unique style that expresses my own way of making videos (except for the first 40 seconds of the video as the concept was all nostromo inspired). My favorite scene is at 1:50 to 1:53 were a manage to manuever a new environment for blending both Diebuster and Sayonar Zetsubou.
Interesting facts:
Louis Vuitton product placement through Murakami's Superflat series.
The drop ripple effect is once again used. The ripple effect has been present through all of my AMVs since GUNXSAGA and executed in a variety of moods. It also represents my zodiac sign, Pisces.
GUNXSAGA and Rainbow Revolution - Title opener
Blend - Bass hole that makes a transition to the next scene
Fallen from grace - Tear Drop
Starlite - Ripple caused by a footstep
Mainstream Love - Beats
Elements used that's present to all of my dance videos: Water, Disco Spotlights, Rainbows, Feathers and Petals.
"HAVE FUN!!!"
