This is my entry for the Armageddon Expo Auckland AMV Contest.
Which was held in October 2009. I came 4th place
As suggested by the title I have chosen to change the ending of the Anime in this video. As I was not completely happy with the way the Anime ended. It can also be related to the last end song of the series Rewrite as if they are asking for you to think about other possible endings.
This is the first video I have made using Adobe After Effects (Version 5). It is a great program to use once you get the hang of it. The basic clip layout was done in Premiere to get the basic timing, then recreated in AE tweaked and effects added. The completed video renders directly from AE.
I am largely happy with the way this AMV has turned out. Though a couple of parts I had trouble finding something meaningful to show.
The brick wall scenes do not have an intended meaning greater than sectionalising the parts of the video and giving me a chance to play with cameras and some 3D.
I came up with the idea of using an audio waveform as a mask. It produces a nice effect that I have not seen that used in any other AMV.
One thing I noticed when creating this video.
It would seem the most successful special effects are the ones no one notices. Because they make something appear natural like it was always meant to be like that. It seems a shame really that you spend all that time on something that may go un-noticed by many people.
