  • Comments: Ah here it is, my first video in over a year of doing jack shit and its sure to piss you off! Basically this is my interpretation of the song "I Know I'm Not Alone" by Michael Franti & Spearhead. The song is about the problems with war and the corruption it presents to our youth of future/past generations and while it has uplifting types of rifts I went a different direction. The main lyrics of "Even though I'm far from home, I'm not alone" Typically that can be translated to be hopeful in that you aren't the only one feeling like war is bullshit or you have someone to go back to. However I am presenting my interpretation of the song as you aren't the only one in the conflict as you are with friends, comrades, enemies, and people you kill. Simply put you are never alone in any conflict and this can be shown literally and symbolically. That's what I tried to accomplish in this video by linking the stories of these movies together.
Certain emotions and feelings can only be expressed in war or some sort of conflict. It is sickening but stories of how people are saved by their comrades or friends is basically saying, they killed other people so you could hear this story. Movies like Sky Crawlers also show how these young individuals are shaped by war after the initial feeling of being indestructible and larger than life for being a combat pilot. It also shows how routine war can be with information being broadcast to the general public like its entertainment. This type of feeling is what I wanted to capture and that is why I expressed it with the main lyrical sync sounding upbeat.

    Lyrics:

    Whatever happen to the sun
    It seems to always come
    Back when we were young
We'd sing and party all night long
The season don't ever come on time no more
    War paints over the years
    and anger fills our tears
    What happen to the sun

But I know, I know, I know I'm not alone
But I know, I know, I know I'm not alone

    Everytime I read the news
    I'm always more confused
    Tellin' me to choose
But there's only lies to choose from
    And how many died today
How many lost thier homes or shot a gun
    Or a love one
    What happen to our sons

But I know, I know, I know I'm not alone
And I know, I know, I know I'm not alone

I know I'm far away from home but I know I'm not
    alone
I know I'm far away from home but I know I'm not alone
