This is definitely one of my most interesting videos. For a long time, I avoided making Final Fantasy X videos simply because there are so many of them it is hard to make one that is truly original. However, I believe this video certainly turned out genuinely unique, and I guarantee it has the most unique ending of any FFX video out there.
Unlike most of my videos which I plan for months or at least weeks and typically take a full week to create, this one was conceived and created all in three days (though working about 12 hours per day on it). Nevertheless, it is still my most technically advanced work to date, making heavy use of interwoven overlays and other effects.
This is my first video using a purely instrumental song, a production library piece called "Bible Clash" by a movie music production company called Extreme Music (a division of Hans Zimmer's Media Ventures). Since the original song was not long enough for a full AMV, I ended up creating my own mix by combining parts of the choir and non-choir versions and repeating a portion of the song.
This is kind of a "what if" video, where I used familiar clips from FFX to tell a completely different story than the actual game. I got the basic idea for this video when listening to this song and it hit me that the organ music would go great with the scene from from FFX-2 where Shuyin plays the organ, and I thought of creating an AMV structured as a kind of organ concert.
As the video developed, I got the idea to reverse the realities of the game's storyline, where instead of Yuna singing about the deaths of Shuyin and Lenne, Shuyin is playing the organ while having visions of the events that actually happened to him happening to Tidus and Yuna instead. The scene where Shuyin activates the Colossus Vegnagun and Yuna's Nightmare form the centerpiece of the video, interspersed with other scenes from FFX and X-2, which complete Shuyin's vision of Yuna and Tidus. Yuna's Nightmare thus becomes the new reality of the video, and the actual events of game are the dream.
