My newest anime music video since last year! Its been eight months since my last music video and nine months since it was an anime music video.
Originally this was suppose to be an amv to Elfen Lied, however, though it has a great story, art, and enough of its own action, there was insufficient amount of clips that I could use to do this video the way I wanted to. So, after stagnating for about six months I decided to add a few more anime alongside Elfen Lied. I'd been wanting to make a music video to "Arms of Sorrow" (by Killswitch Engage) for a long time and I had no intentions of scrapping just cause it was taking me too long to get it done. After a month of just getting new footage prepared, I finally found myself getting somewhere with this project. It wasn't until the week leading up to the video's premiere that I had found enough time to sit down and completely finish it.
Production Notes:
So, I'll start this with some of the tech specs. Once again I used APE3 (Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0) and I must say I enjoy it way better than WMM (though it did have better transitions). I ripped and edited video footage using AMV App programs; such as DVD Decrypter, DGIndex, and VirtualDub. Re-compression was done with Xvid by using VirtualDub. I kept the editing simple and the one thing most will notice is that I didn't edit any of the footage to match ratios (i.e. 3:4, 9:16) as Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture is widescreen and the rest of the anime are full. I'm not sure really how to work that all out, but next time I decide to spend 8 months of a year to make ONE AMV I'll see what I can do. This video was for "serious" fun.
Afterthoughts:
I'm happy I got this amv done and Finally finished (and this year, too!). LoL! I really enjoyed working on the finishing touches of the production, and the best part was the last week of splicing and clip arrangements with the music timeline. I would go with a certain scene the first time around, then come back to it later after doing another scene later and go with a completely different clip. Other times I would find places where I could add a clip or two along the timeline (and there are quite a lot of those, too). What I enjoyed most was being able to incorporate Fullmetal Alchemist (though there's no significant reason for adding it other than just wanting to use scenes and clips from the show). If nothing else, other than another attempt at an action vid, this is my latest stepping stone to improve my amv-skills. Like all my amv's that have come before this is one of my most enjoyed.
Note: 9/3/2008
Found that my video had a major glitch that was causing the timing to be off. The error has been corrected now, and I'm also happy to say that my future amvs should have no sync/timing problems again.
