  • Comments: This AMV is focused on the story about Arcueid and Shiki, featuring the song Shine a Light from the Rolling Stones. When Jagger and Richards wrote the song, it was meant to tell a story about drugs; however, I tried to let it go along with... A different kind of story here.

    The AMV is mostly dedicated to the beautiful character of Arcueid, as the song lyrics are.

    On the tech side, this AMV sports no special effects at all (it was a clear decision), just a few brief credits at the end, and the timing is variable; it mostly goes along with the drums, some other times with the piano, and rarely with the speech. There are a few lip-synced scenes, I like using lip-sync for a boosted pace/rhythm effect in some circumstances. In the last scenes, the particular lip-sync on Arcueid is meant to recall some happiness and her beautiful child-like mood.

    It took about 50 hours, maybe more, to have the job done. Being my first AMV, I surely wasted time in learning some tricks and techniques. On the software side, I used Virtual Dub (cutting), Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 (fine cutting and adjustments with the music, plus the credits), and VirtualDub again (XviD encoding and muxing the mp3 track to the video). VLC for quick-searching through the anime and Notepad for writing down some notes about the storyline, along with the lyrics.

    About hardware, my machine is a quad core Q6600 overclocked to 3.6 GHz, with 4 GB of DDR2 RAM operating at 1 GHz. Two 74GB Western Digital Raptor 10.000 rpm SATA drives in RAID 0 manage the heavy raw data writing.

    A little warning: this one spoils a lot, if you haven't seen the series it will definitely anticipate you how it ends.
