This is my third upcoming AMV video in Pre-Production and my second in my "Deltron 3030 Project".
"Madness" is probably the best song from the "Deltron 3030" album, and with all the crazyness that happens on Nadesico, I felt it was the best sci-fi/mecha series in my anime collection that could go well with this song.
Back when I first registered at the site, I was putting in all the video ideas I had at the time, and actually fulfilled them all but two. I made the mistake of not placing them as "Not Premiered" though and they have the date that I made the entry at the Premiere Date. In all truth, those remaining video hadn't even been made yet. Since then, I've made sure not to enter videos unless they are ready to upload, to avoid problems like this, but sadly "Madness" wasn't able to escape this.
I tried to have the listing removed, but AMV.org believed the video was made before then, but if so I'd have definitely have posted in 2003. This is before I realized (and read) that it's better (or required) to only ost your vids if they actually to exist instead of being an ambitious figment of one's imagination. Sorry about this mixup, but I don't want this video to be mistaken to have come out in 2003, when it really premieres in 2005. I'll try again to convince them to let me change the date to the one I listed above as the real one, but chances are it'll probably stay as is. Sucks, because I would have liked to be part of next years VCAs if "Madness" is up to par.
Before grading it, I'd like to mention some trivia about this vid:
* Although you can watch this without knowing about "Martian Successor Nadesico", some of the lines in the song are actually matched up to some of the events/revelations that occur in the show. (ie. "But you see who's controllin' them").
* The subliminal drop-out/transitions used between scenes are something I wanted to have to pay homage to Nadesico's directorial style. They didn't happen by mistake.
* The credits are over a minute long. I've recieved some complaints about the length of the creds in my vids, but since you don't have to watch them, they can be skipped. Since I haven't finished a new video for almost 20 months, I had a lot of folks to thank during the long-strange trip "Madness" has been.
* "Madness" was actually supposed to be my 10th video, but I ended up moving on to other projects ahead of it and tackled it later. That's why there's a preview of "Somebody to Love" during the credits; Video #011 and one that I finished in Summer 2003. Jesus, I'm slow. ^_^
* Despite the 20 month duration, I probably spent 3 months on this video total. A lot of things happened between finishing "Across the Board" and this one but I won't bore you with them. With being so distracted, I wouldn't have been a bonus in my motivation for creating this.
* Don't believe the hype: I'm sure this video will be hit-or-miss with most folks. Underground Hip-Hop dosen't strike a chord with most, but hopefully I can entertain one person here and turn their ear to other music than what's heard on the radio. That's my real goal in all of this.
Regardless of my hopes that everyone will dig "Madness", those generous in giving a review please be straight-forward and fair. There's nothing I can do about those with bias against underground hip-hop or older anime, but if those are basis for low marks, I won't take your review seriously. Same goes for complaints about the length of the credits; since they can be skipped they shouldn't matter. I don't mind remarks about the Opening or the video itself, though. ^_^ I'm in no position to make demands, but I just wanted to get that off my chest...
With that said, enjoy the video, and here's hoping you'll check out my other stuff as well.
More to come!!!
