Finally, I got around to putting this video up.
HERE IT IS!
Afrikaans Accent Institute
A bit about the video
_________________
Well, the following video is a parody unlike any other with a South African twist.
Truth is, I made this video for the fun of it and told a few of my close friends that
I would do it. I wanted to have a video that would bring the audio to life by giving it a bit
of an edge.
I basically finished the video before the deadline for UPCON. It was entered into the competition and enjoyed by many giving them a good laugh. The video is unique in a comical sense as it looks at the Afrikkaans Accent in a light of humour. Playing on how word's can be manipulated or pronounced.
For those of you who do not know, Afrikaans is one of the 11 official languages in South Africa and is taught as either a primary or secondary language in schools. The joke on how to speak English with an Afrikaans accent was aired on a local radio station and makes "fun of" how the Afrikaans people speak English. This is by no means a true reflection of how they speak.
However, after listening to it and having a good laugh, I set out on a project to make an AMV with this as my audio.
This video contains a mixture of English and Afrikaans words, since it is common for either language speaker to mix words from the other language.
AAI was a small project that kept me busy and was fun to make.
Here is a quick reference of Afrikaans terms used in this video:
Rokkie - Dress or skirt
Koeksister - A local Afrikaans pastry which is covered in syrup, shaped somewhat like a spiraled macaroni.
Some of these words can have various connotations. Watch with an open mind.
Try to catch the hidden meanings behind what is said in certain places.
The video is encoded in High Definition h264 mp4 with 1280x1024 resolution.
There is an indirect link to a lower res version of the video with a resolution of 640x512 for those of you who cannot play the high res one. It is also encoded as h264 MP4.

I recommend you use CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) with your media player.
Or you can use VLC Player or MPlayer.. It works just as well.
That's it...
With that said... ENJOY!
