Concept notes: Pour Some Sugar On Me is a song about sex. Most all of Def Leppard's songs are. Regardless of how you might feel about that, it's a great rock song. (Brought to you at a glorious 320kbps.) It's theme is about what sexual studs the band members consider themselves to be, and I thought that it was a great song to showcase what action studs the members of Section 9 are. The vid casts the Major in the title role of Butch, which is appropriate in more ways than one, and Batou as her partner Sundance. (I'm assuming you guys know who Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were.) Though the Major gets the bulk of the screen time, most of the other members of the team get in on some of it as well.
There's not any coherent storyline to the vid; it's just a collection of the best action scenes from the first season, along a peek into the Major's private life, and a humorous scene in Aramaki's office which references a line from the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a line spoken by Jessica Rabbit which caused a little bit of a stir at the time. I remember ABC's World News Tonight had a segment on it, and the way society tends to make assumptions about a woman's personality based upon her chest size. The Major doesn't have a huge chest, but she is obviously drawn and sometimes clothed so as to appeal to the male audience as much as possible and still be believeable for the role she plays.
Synch notes: There is actually a lot of lyric synching in the vid if you can keep up with the speed at which the words are spit out. I also synched virtually every jump, kick, punch, fall and gunshot in the vid to the beat of the music.
Play the synch game:If you want to, you can play a little game while watching the vid. Watch it once or twice, then come back here and read over the section below. It contains the song lyrics, and I have made notes on the synching which takes place on the individual lines. See what percentage of it you can spot on your own.
I only started learning how to make vids two weeks ago, so if you like what you see and hear, please leave an opinion and help me get my name out there. Thanks. Forum thread
If the video won't play, get this codec pack.
"Pour Some Sugar On Me"
Musical Intro, with the word "Bomb" - I thought incorporating the audio of the helicopters flying by was a nice way to start the vid. Then we have the titles, followed by a long, slow look at the Major. (The bad guy is also placing a bomb on the roof.)
Musical intro with heavy drumbeats - The first heavy, hard beat is accompanyied by the Major's landing on the building. If you look closely you'll notice the camera shaking when she lands, and the drumbeat is appropriately loud for such an entrance. The next two beats synch with the bad guy's gunshot and the Major's kick, with a minor beat on her landing. After some chase footage, we synch up again to the Major's gunshots (look closely, there's two), and the bad guy's tumble.
Love is like a bomb, baby, c'mon get it on - These first two lines show Batou's appearance
Livin' like a lover with a radar phone - and the Major in an iconic pose.
Lookin' like a tramp, like a video vamp - Here is the humouous scene referencing Roger
Demolition woman, can I be your man? - Rabbit, and Batou's laughing right along with us.
Razzle 'n' a dazzle 'n' a flash a little light
Television lover, baby, go all night - The Major is downloading internet vids.
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet - Her girlfriends want to play, but the Major has
Little miss ah innocent sugar me, yeah - other things on her mind.
Hey!
C'mon, take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up - Here things are difinitely shaking.
Pour some sugar on me - Batou poured some sugar on the bad guys, so much
Ooh, in the name of love - that they died a "sweet" death. Oops.
Pour some sugar on me - A Tachikoma is pouring a little sugar on as well.
C'mon fire me up - Another 'koma is all fired up...
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough - ...in more ways than one! "Bring 'em on!", he says.
I'm hot, sticky sweet - This guy is beginning to think he's invincible, until he
From my head to my feet yeah - sees that RPG fly over his head. Then he moves his "feet."
Instrumental riffs - Section 9 is shooting, hitting and sniping to the beat.
Listen! red light, yellow light, green-a-light go! - When you jump from a plane, first you're waiting to go (red light), then you move to the doorway ("yellow light"), then when the green light comes on, you go.
Crazy little woman in a one man show - The Major is jumping in alone.
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love - I could see these girls as vain and
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up - fashion-conscious vixens.
You gotta squeeze a little, squeeze a little - They can also fight, but the Major
Tease a little more
Easy operator come a knockin' on my door - kicks one out to the beat, then gives the
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet - other some sugar, making her land on beat.
Little miss innocent sugar me, yeah
(repeated yelling of "Yeah!") - The bad guy's shooting to the beat.
Give a little more - The Major saved some for him, too.
Note: The previous fight sequence, from when we first sight the "vixens", until she kills their handler, is one continuous, unedited scene, with a total of 5 synchs- four beats and one lyric!

[guitar solo] - The Major is counter-punching to the beat, then knocks out the bad guy to a riff, and he lands on a major riff. Next, the arm suit is shooting to the quick riff, then decloaks to another riff.
You got the peaches, I got the cream - Yes, yes she does have peaches. (The major
Sweet to taste, saccharine - then makes a mental note to kick Batou's ass after
'Cos I'm hot, say what, sticky sweet - this is over for his line about having cream for them.)
From my head, my head, to my feet - The Major is jumping and landing to the riffs.

Yeah! Sugar me! - Be sure and notice all the additional holes during the credits.
