Just a bit of fun and practice really, nothing very symbolic or especially ambitious in this.
Thing is I've just about learnt what I really wanted to in Vegas, and I thought I'd test a bit of that out on a Final Fantasy video. I would have liked to experiment with a lot more in the way of effects, like masking and key framing, but as it is I only ended up using a little key framing with the effects packed with Vegas, and didn't get around to fiddling with it to make my own 'unique' effects as much as I would have liked.

Editor’s Review:
I'd like to track my own progress with my videos, so for the purposes of this I'm going to do a little review of my own and explain what I was aiming for.
Originality: I know there’s very little original about this, especially as I’ve already done this video once before on the demon tube, but I just wanted to play about and see how I’ve improved from then I guess, so I’m not expecting much in the way of ratings here.
Visual: Well due to a computer mishap I had to rip all my game footage again, and while the clips from the earlier games (6-9) came out pretty well, X and X-2 were disappointing. Bit of an interlacing problem. I think I just about managed to resolve it in the render, it's a little bit fuzzy, I think due to using the blend mode, but these things happen when I'm not paying attention. I was more concerned with the aspect ratio of the clips and resolving an issue I usually have with Final Fantasy videos - the fact that the clips are all different ratios really irks me sometimes. I think that worrying about this so much made me lose sight of the real quality of the videos I ended up with.
Another problem was the filesize - the original full render came out at 110MB but looked fine. This version had less than half the bitrate of the original, but it's still massive... so we'll see.
Audio: I’ve had this song on my hard drive since forever to keep my fiancée happy, so as far as I’m aware the quality came out pretty good. Though I’m never entirely satisfied…
The main thing I worried about was the introduction - I extended it by a few bars to get it fitting the logos and titles nicely, I think the cut turned out pretty good. The distroted fuzziness of it all seems to mask any error!
Action Synch: There are a few synchs which looked fine in the preview and work-in-progress renders I did, which in the final render came out ever so slightly disjointed, for example, around the 3 minute mark. I don’t intend to go back and fix this mainly because this wasn’t exactly a huge project. I put some effort into it but I’m starting to tire of doing Final Fantasy Videos now…
Overall though I’m quite happy with it; I didn’t want to use too many effects in this video as the cuts are so quick they’d barely have been noticeable, at least if I had done any extended effects they may have taken away the speed and pace of the music, which I didn’t want. So I just tried to sync mostly cuts, with occasional ‘movement sync’ thrown into the mix for good measure.
Lip Synch: Not one of my strongest points, and I thought I’d try a teeny bit of practice with a few clips from Final Fantasy 7 whilst in the picture-in-picture effect with Red XIII and Cid. Came out ok I guess but could have matched a bit better. I guess I just liked the comedy of it all!
Effects: I’ve put this up for rating simply because it’s the first time I’ve really tried to use any effects in Vegas, and I’d like people’s opinions of them. By effects I’m classing the split screens, Picture-in Pictures, the Chroma-keys in the introduction, and some of the key framed TV simulators I have in there. I’m quite happy with them but I’d like some opinions for improvement.
Effort: Well if I were to rate my own effort, I’d say it’s all perspective really – considering the video was ‘just a bit of fun’, I’d say I put a decent amount of effort in – I spent two weeks on this and about 42 man-hours. But I could have worked much more and made this an awesome video. Blah.

Anyhow, please do give me any constructive criticism you see fit; I’d love people’s opinions on how I can improve (especially when it comes to effects and key framing). Many thanks.
