• Comments: I watched Lain for the first time earlier this year, and like most people I found it messed with my head. I thought it would be hard to find a song that expressed the many weird aspects of Lain, but then I listened to Only, which I had originally planned to use in a Perfect Blue AMV. The lyrics to Only are a much better match for Lain, and the persistent electrical throbbing in the song echoes Lain's theme of being engulfed by the pervasive technology of the wired world.
  
  Other themes are Lain's feeling of isolation from the "real" world and the people in it, including her family; escaping into an alternate world that quickly turns from comforting to threatening; being robbed of identity by a doppelganger; and the idea that reality is only real if people observe it.
  
  The first part of the video shows Lain logging on to her Navi and receiving the email that is the catalyst for the rest of the events in the series. I used more effects than usual in this part, because it was nto very exciting otherwise. It was all done with Premiere Pro, and boy did it crash a lot.
  
  The rest is a trip through the wired world, with as much lyric sync as I could cram in. Enjoy !
