  • Comments: This is a 6 minute "news reel" style telling of the early years of the original Mobile Suit Gundam Universal Century time line.

    History:
This project was a long time coming, germinating in my mind years ago when I discovered the wealth of pre-anime history behind the beloved Original Mobile Suit Gundam. The Giren's Greed strategy games truly inspired me with roughly two hours of new and cleaned up animation covering much of the history which had previously existed in the imagination. The MS Igloo OVA, which saw its premier at the Bandai museum, further cemented my desire to see a more comprehensive presentation of the events leading up to and surrounding the Original Mobile Suit Gundam story.
"Universal Century: Part I" is my fist attempt at presenting this fascinating and dramatic back story to a wider audience that may not have seen the Giren's Greed games or MS: Igloo.

    Music:
I have always loved Instrumentals, especially the work done by Hanz Zimmer, and his soundtrack to "The Rock" has long been a favorite of mine. It has just the right combination of sadness, action, and martial strength to fit the scale and scope of the One Year War.

    Points of Interest:
Most of the images used in the newspaper and magazine clippings were pulled from the hardbound "Time Life" style book titled "M.S. ERA." Much of the research came from this source as well as the numerous Gundam sourcebooks available in English. The audio was pulled from the first Gundam Movie, as well as the source footage. I also briefly used footage from "Jin-Roh" as well as the audio for the revolution of Side 3 segment. The title work and articles were written to reflect the bias of various publications throughout the eras and were some of my favorite parts to work on.
