  • Comments: Yes it's Sum 41 and yes the song is overused...very overused. However, this is a re-master of a previous AMV I made ages ago when this song was somewhat original...I swear. It was such a good idea at the time since I haven't seen an Elfen Lied AMV that uses Sum 41 when I made it. It was done entirely in Windows Movie Maker, and it was re-mastered entirely in the same program also. Thus, please excuse the non-HD quality of the video and if it pixelates when it fades.

This was done in about four days with 6-10 hours worked on per day. Yes, with classes that doesn't equal much sleep, but I was so excited about using a new and faster computer. It was horrid making my last AMVs with constant freezing and whatnot. The AMV itself is pretty easy to understand: Just follow the lyrics, although it helps a lot if you've watched Elfen Lied before. Actually, it might not make any sense if you haven't watched it before. :D

The AMV is basically a character profile of almost every character in the anime...sounds weird doesn't it? As you might know, the anime is very plot-heavy so I decided to make an AMV to show the characters' struggles at the beginning and how their lives were rescued by others through the bond of friendship or love. Of course, all of the blood and gore will still be there, but it's purposeful! Hehe, have fun!

    My aims for this video:
    1) Prove that WMM can produce a decent video (push WMM to its limits) and realize that I need to move on to other editing programs.
    2) Use white flashes correctly, not in a seizure way.
    3) Use the "rainbow filter" once, officially known as the "hue, cycles entire color spectrum" effect. It's very annoying when used incorrectly, and I strive to find a way somehow to use it effectively.
    4) Use other filters that are rarely used in WMM/I've never seen used in WMM and possibly combine filters to create effects that people would never thought possible in WMM.
    5) Mask extremely violent scenes in some way and not use scenes showing bones/innards.
    6) Provide extremely correct synchronization as best as WMM can do it.
    7) Portray Elfen Lied (to people that haven't watched it but only watched the AMVs) as an anime that does have an amazing plot and not just ripping off random body parts.

Edit: It's preferred to watch wmv files in Windows Media Player and not VLC Player. The VLC player shaves a few seconds from the beginning off wmv files.

Warning: Some blood, gore, and nudity.

    # 2007-06-08 04:52:48 - very impressive for a WMM video :)
    # 2007-05-22 16:08:07 - you show much promise with editing, keep up the good work
    # 2007-05-02 04:31:06 - Top Notch, probably best Elfen amv I've seen so far :).
    # 2007-03-31 16:23:45 - good job - ScorpionP
    # 2007-03-29 16:50:10 - I wasn't expecting anything mindblowing when you said you used WMM to make this. However, you've proven me wrong. This is a very good, upbeat video that isn't just pointless action or violence. The song is driving, but you still told the stories of the characters very well. Nice work on this, and I know you'll be making even greater videos in the future.
