    Introduction
Nearly 3 years after my last AMV, I've finally instilled in myself the self-discipline to make one of my ideas into reality. I would definitely mark this as my best work yet, having paid more attention to technical issues as well as facing creative challenges head-on.

    Background
In planning for Sakura Con 2007, I was quite determined to break my procrastinating ways and finally enter one of my works into the AMV contest. The idea finally came to me in late November after having watched the longer 2-min trailer for Rocky Balboa. I had never done a trailer before, but the category was a perfect fit for me. The concept-story was already formed, the length was manageable, and best of all, I had the chance to use my favorite anime as a basis for the footage: Hajime No Ippo. While I was momentarily tempted to utilize Ippo as Rocky, I felt that his later opponent Date Eiji matched the plot of the film much more closely in his pursuit to reclaim the Featherweight Championship belt. Matching up other characters was a matter of logical progression:

Ippo = Mason "The Line" Dixon
Keigo Okita = Rocky's Son, Robert Balboa
    Ginpachi Nekota = Paulie
Date Eiji's Brother-In-Law, Minoru Fujii = Promoter (His character was actually split into two in the video)
    Eiji Aiko = Marie
    Etc.

    About the Video
In terms of footage, I derived my material from volumes 8,9,11,12, and 14 of Hajime No Ippo(aka Fighting Spirit), though some scenes demanded visuals that were considerably limited in number throughout the series.

Keeping in mind my limited editing abilities, particularly in the area of special effects and the such, the phrase "Keep It Simple Stupid" was my motto. Numerous visual action syncs, lip syncs, simple fades are what drove this video.

Thanks goes to a friend of mine (who wishes to remain anonymous) who designed the "Date Balboa" title and "SakuraCon 2007" "release date" graphics to my specifications.
