• Comments: Well, this would be my 2nd video with Adobe Premiere after so many good times with WMM. ;_: This is the first time I've attempted some serious drama after having so many either action, comedy, or happy go lucky stuff. What better anime to express feelings of sadness and remorse than Grave of the Fireflies right? The thing I really attempted to do with this vid is give a little story through the lyrics of the song. The main theme behind it is a dying man's reminescence about his life and family before he fades away. You'll notice that each set of lyrics (there are 3) reflects on a different person in the character's life...
  
  1.) The first part was the hardest to make work since it has the main character remembering an old friend and GOTF really doesn't have a secondary friend type of character. To compensate for this, I decided to make this part more of an introspection and have the character remembering himself from afar through memories than an actual differnt person.
  
  2.)The second part deals with thoughts of his father and the life lessons that were taught to him. Since there really isn't much footage of his dad in the movie, I had to use what little scenes of his image I had and spread them out in this sequence. I tried my best to make the lyrics direct the scene selection as much as possible here.
  
  3.)The last segment deals with memories of his child in the song but that obviously would not work for the GOTF footage. Instead I focused the attention towards his sister and made the scene selection accomadate this idea. Since there is no direct reference to "Michelle" being his daughter, it was ambigious enough for me to get away with it. =D
  
  One thing of note, I really made an effort to show more happy moments than sad in this video. I didn't want to follow the normal trend of GOTF vids in showing nothing but sorrow and death. There are moments like that in this video but it really deals alot more with the good times the characters shared much the same way Tim Park's Masters entry 'Forever Young' did. The footage was acquired by capturing the CentralParkMedia DVD through a Dazzle50 USB card. The DVD is really pretty bad quality wise but the footage itself turned out decent and much better than any of my prior videos. That about covers everything, I hope you enjoy and feedback is always welcome. ^_^
