This was created after I gave up on a video I was planning to send to AWA Pro. I was going to send a Bleach video which was purely conceptual and "artsy," relying solely on a momentum of swords. Sounds pretentious, right? You bet your arse it would have been. It would have kicked arse too, I reckon, purely on the fact that it would have been "sublimely original."
But then I realised something... well, actually, I realised a couple of things.
(1) The video was of a concept that required far more computer resources than I currently had. To be more specific, I know I could have done that video on the platform I'm working on now, but with AWA Pro looming ahead, I realised I wasn't going to be able to do it fast enough, and;
(2) The idea behind the video lacked heart.
It was going to be pretty. It was going to be something unseen before (ok, so as you can see, I have a superiority complex). But something which I have always looked for in a video was missing behind the idea.
I don't really know how to explain to you what I mean by the idea having no "heart" but I hope you can just trust me when I say that with the realisation that I was about to make a video which I wasn't going to like, I set about immediately to capture in this video what I meant by heart.
To be honest, this video doesn't really seem to have a point. In fact, I've interpreted what it meant only after I finished making it. I made this video nearing the end of my university examinations, nearing the 1st anniversary of my studio's creation, and it was an ending really, hence the title, Nostalgia. At first I wanted to cut it short (just over half the length of the video as it is) to maybe just the first chorus where most of the scenes were endings, albeit sad ones. But I felt inspired right after that when I realised that this shouldn't be the end.
You can feel nostalgic all you like, you can feel for the past on what you gained and all that you have lost, but one thing you shouldn't do is end it there, looking back at that past like there's nothing else waiting in front of you.
That's heart.
Anyway, while I'm here, I just gotta say I want to dedicate this video to my mates back in Amvience Studios for an awesome year and also to my friend, Jaddziadax who I completely forgot already made a video to this song (this one) and also because it was her birthday some days ago (extra bonus birthday gift, I suppose :P)
Enjoy.
